Getting a grip on the Valorant economy is super important if you want to win. It really influences how both your team and the enemy team play throughout the match. So, let’s dive into how the whole economy works in Valorant and get some solid tips on how to manage your cash in the game. I’ll be sharing this Valorant economy guide based on my own experiences playing Valorant and some advice from pro players. Keep reading!

Highlights:

  • Creds in Valorant are used to buy weapons, shields, and abilities.
  • Players start with 800  credits at the beginning of each half and get different amounts of credits according to their performance.
  • This article describes 8 strategies for rounds, from a pistol round to an anti-force round.
  • Poor Valorant resource management can cost victory.

Credits: How They Work

Creds are the in-game currency in Valorant. Creds are used to purchase weapons, shields, and abilities before each round. Each player starts with a certain amount of credits and earns them throughout the round based on their performance.

How Creds Are Earned?

At the start of each half of the match, each player receives 800 credits. As you play, you will earn Valorant credits as follows:

  • Each kill gives 200 credits.
  • Planting the Spike gives 300 credits to each team member.
  • Winning a round gives each player 3,000 credits.

If you lose rounds, your Valorant economy will look like this:

  • For losing one round, you will receive 1,900 credits, and for subsequent losses, their number increases by 500.
  • That is, for losing two rounds in a row, you will receive 2,400 credits, and for losing three or more rounds in a row, you will receive 2,900 credits.
  • A player who survives the previous round keeps their weapon for the next round, which means they save on buying equipment in the next round.

Types Of Buys In Valorant And Economy Cheat Sheet

Below, I describe several strategies for rounds and approaches to the Valorant economy. I will say right away that I will not tell you step by step what you need to do at each match stage and what exactly to buy since no guide will give you a path to a winning strategy. It is better to understand how the economy works in Valorant, and then you will know what you need to do at each round without a cheat sheet.

Pistol Round

The pistol round is the first round of each half, in which all players start with 800 credits. The pistol round is extremely important, as its results will determine how the following rounds will go. Winning the pistol round gives a significant economic advantage, as the winning team will receive a certain amount of credits, allowing them to buy better weapons and armor in the following rounds. The team that loses this round will go through eco rounds or will be forced to buy cheaper weapons in order to save Valorant credits for a full purchase later.

Recommended purchases:

  • Light Shields – 400 Creds
  • Frenzy – 450 Creds
  • Ghost – 500 Creds
  • Abilities – depending on the situation

Eco Round

In the eco round, players generally should save and not make purchases or spend an insignificant amount to accumulate the creds for the following rounds. During these rounds, players focus on saving creds, buying basic weapons from the Valorant buy menu, or taking them from fallen enemies. If this round is lost, it will not significantly affect the team’s economy, and in the following rounds, they will have the means to make a comeback. If the team wins the eco round, it significantly affects the economy of the team that had an advantage at the beginning of the round.

Recommended purchases:

  • Ideally no purchases
  • Frenzy – 450 Creds
  • Ghost – 500 Creds

Force Buy

Force buy is a situation where a team goes all in, and players spend all their Valorant credits despite the fact that they do not have enough creds for a full purchase. By winning this round, the team makes a comeback and levels out its economic situation. Losing this round, on the contrary, forces the team to return to eco rounds.

Recommended purchases:

  • Stinger – 950 Creds
  • Spectre – 1600 Creds
  • Bucky – 850 Creds
  • Light Shields – 400 Creds

Full Buy

Full buy is a phase where players can afford the best and preferred equipment, full armor, and all abilities. Such a round gives the team the maximum combat effectiveness and the greatest chance of winning. Losing in such a round can lead to either half-buy or eco rounds.

Recommended purchases:

  • Phantom – 2900 Creds
  • Vandal – 2900 Creds
  • Operator – 4700 Creds
  • Full Armor – 1000 Creds
  • Any necessary abilities

Half Buy (Light Buy)

The half buy or light buy phase is a bit like the force buy round, but the difference is that players have credits for the next round and save up for a full buy. Players try to maintain their combat effectiveness in the current round by buying cheaper weapons, light armor, and limited abilities, but at the same time, save up Valorant credits for a full buy in the next round.

Recommended purchases:

  • SMG or shotguns
  • Light Shields – 400 Creds
  • Limited abilities

Bonus Round

A bonus round occurs when a team wins a pistol round and the next round and decides not to make a purchase in this round but to keep the equipment from the previous one – usually SMGs or shotguns. This way, your team’s economic risks in case of a loss are minimal since you already have the resources for a full buy. In case of a win, this greatly undermines the enemy’s economy and allows your team to accumulate even more credits in the next round.

Recommended purchases:

  • No purchases; continue using the weapons you already have

Anti-Eco Round

In the anti-eco round, your team assumes that the enemy team is in the eco round, and you make purchases accordingly to gain an advantage. Thus, winning the eco round will support your Valorant economy and will prevent the enemy from accumulating credits.

Recommended purchases:

  • Rifles and abilities depending on the situation

Anti-Force Round

In an anti-force round, your team assumes that the enemy will have a force buy and plans an aggressive rush. The anti-force buy involves effective countermeasures. Typically, this is melee gear and various other measures to counter the enemy’s sudden attacks.

Recommended purchases:

  • Any means that are suitable for close encounters

Economy Management Throughout The Game

Understanding how to properly manage the economy in Valorant at different stages of the match is key and often the determining factor in who wins. Here are some of the principles to follow during your match:

Early Game

  • Winning the pistol round sets the foundation for economic stability in the next rounds.
  • After winning the pistol round, try to enter the bonus round without spending all your Valorant credits. You may make a basic purchase of cheaper equipment, such as SMGs or shotguns, then save and enter the third bonus round. This way, you will secure economic stability and reach a full purchase round in the middle game.
  • If you lose the pistol round, stick to the eco round strategy, saving credits or buying only basic pistols to try to ensure a full purchase in the third or fourth round.

Middle Game

  • If everything goes well, you should already be at full buy by the third or fourth round.
  • Use the economic situation to your advantage and react to your opponent’s buy. Try to anticipate and react accordingly to your opponent’s eco rounds or force buys.
  • If you don’t have enough funds, consider eco rounds or make partial buys to reach full buy in the following rounds by the late game.

Late Game

  • In the late game, any economic advantage can become a decisive factor. Spend credits wisely, and make full buys if you have funds to keep the pressure on your opponent.
  • If the situation is not in your favor but you understand that you can take a risk and make a comeback, then prepare yourself and use the force buy strategy.

Common Economy Mistakes In Valorant

If you previously thought that Valorant was just a mindless shooter, now you see that there is a place for strategy. Try to avoid the mistakes in the Valorant economy that I list below. All of them are based on my own bitter experience.

Buying Into Lost Rounds

One of the most common mistakes is buying weapons and equipment after a series of losses. When a team loses several rounds in a row, it is important not to spend money on expensive weapons in the buy phase, as this can lead to a complete economic collapse. It is better to use eco rounds so that the team is ready for a full buy and is better prepared for the late game.

Poor Save Round Management

Knowing when to save creds is crucial. During eco rounds, skip purchases or only take the basics to save for later rounds. During half buys, prioritize cheaper weapons and gear options. This will allow you to maintain combat effectiveness without spending all your resources and be ready for a full buy in the next round.

Ignoring Team Economy

Ignoring the state of the team’s economy is a serious mistake. Each player should be aware of how much money the entire team has, how much creds are for the next round, and what strategy they are following for the next round. For example, if I, as a team leader, decide that we need an eco round, and my teammate makes a purchase, then in case of a loss, he will not be able to make a purchase according to my strategy for the next round.

Over-Investing In Abilities

Overspending on abilities can result in you not having enough money to buy the needed stuff in the next round if you lose. Take only what you need from the Valorant buy menu according to your strategy for the next round.

Not Utilizing The Overtime Bank

In the overtime, it is important to use the available money as efficiently as possible because each round decides the outcome of the game. Incorrect distribution of funds at such moments can lead to a predictable loss. Focus on buying the necessary weapons and useful items, and also make sure that all team members have enough equipment for the upcoming rounds.

Light Armor vs. Heavy Armor Misconceptions

A common mistake newbies make is thinking that light armor will be enough and will help save money for other gear. However, in situations where the enemy is fully stocked, having heavy armor is critical.

Poor Operation Economy

Inefficient use of resources can cost you the victory. It is important to keep track of what items and abilities are available to you and your opponent each round under the current conditions. Consider how many creds your opponents can get, try to anticipate what strategy they will choose, and adjust yours accordingly.

How Does Econ Rating Work?

Econ rating is a statistic that helps you understand how effectively you use your creds in the game. Econ rating calculates the damage that a player has done for every 1,000 credits spent.

To find out your Econ rating, you need to divide the damage done by the number of Valorant credits spent and then multiply by 1,000. A good result is considered if your Econ rating is within 50-70. This means that you do good damage for the money spent. 70-100 points and above show that you are using your financial resources well.

Valorant is an incredibly popular competitive first-person shooter that has not only not lost popularity in five years but also receives regular edits, updates, and additional content. Of course, this affects the Valorant download size, and many PC users are worried that their device will not be able to run it. Let’s figure out how much space Valorant will take up on your drive in 2025.

Highlights:

  • Installed Valorant takes up 45-55 GB of storage.
  • The installer is ~100 MB, while the full game is ~50 GB.
  •  SSD is not required but recommended for better performance.
  • Check the minimal, recommended, and high-end system requirements below.

How Big Is Valorant In 2025?

At the moment, the installed Valorant takes up about 50-55 GB of space on your system drive:

  • First, you download the installer executable from the official game site, which takes up no more than 100 MB of space;
  • Then you run the installer, which will download the game build, and it actually takes up about 50 GB of space.

To write this article in February 2025, I downloaded the installer again, and it showed that the current Valorant size was 49.4 GB.

How To Check Valorand Download Size Before Installation?

After you download the installer executable from the official website and run it, you can select the place where you want to install the build and see the exact Valorant size.

Why Does Valorant Take Up So Much Space?

First of all, you should understand that the Valorant download size may change depending on updates, fixes, and additional content that the developers periodically release.

Despite the apparent simplicity of the graphics, Valorant uses high-resolution textures and assets for character models and maps, directly affecting the final size of the game. The same applies to the sound design.

Let’s not forget about the presence of anti-cheat software in the game client, which also takes up a certain amount of space from the total Valorant size and regularly receives updates.

Storage Requirement: Does Valorant Require SSD?

SSD is not required for the normal functioning of the game. If you install Valorant on HDD, you will not experience any particular problems. However, you should understand that SSD is already a standard today, as games are becoming more complex and larger, and the speed of HDD is no longer sufficient for fast texture loading. Therefore, of course, SSD is preferable but still not required for Valorant.

System Requirements

Valorant has relatively low system requirements, which will allow you to comfortably play the game on the maximum number of devices, including budget ones.

Minimum System Requirements (30 FPS)

CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (Intel), Athlon 200GE (AMD)
GPUIntel HD 4000, Radeon R5 200
RAM4GB
VRAM1GB
OSWindows: 10 (Build 19041+) or 11 64-bit

Recommended System Specs (60 FPS)

GPUGeforce GT 730, Radeon R7 240
RAM4GB
VRAM1GB

Final Thoughts

Valorant is being updated and developed, and the system requirements are gradually growing. However, if you compare it to other games and especially competitive shooters, Valorant has very modest system requirements, which allows you to enjoy the game on most devices. In this article, I have indicated the minimum, recommended, and high-end technical requirements so that you can familiarize yourself with them in advance and understand whether your device will be capable of running the game. Also, do not forget about the storage requirement since the Valorant game size is currently around 50 GB.

Valorant is a fun and addictive competitive shooter that fits perfectly into the concept of “easy to start, hard to master.” With the release of Valorant on consoles, the game got its second breath, and I see new players often asking this question on Reddit – “how to get better at Valorant”? Indeed, despite its seeming simplicity, Valorant is actually quite complex with specific mechanics and features you need to level up. Below, I’ve put together the key Valorant tips that really helped me in the game. Some of them might seem obvious, but trust me, they’re super important for stepping up your game.

How To Get Good At Valorant: Best Tips For New Players

Of course, the first thing you need is more game practice. But to turn quantity into quality, I have provided some simple tips on how to get better at Valorant.

Master Agent Abilities

Try and study all agents from different tiers. This way, you will better understand how this or that agent will act during the match. Then, focus on a few that you like more and which better suit your playstyle and master them. One more Valorant tip is to follow the updates and the current meta. This will keep you informed about the game’s latest changes and trends, helping you understand which agents will perform better in the current season and which ones have been nerfed.

Develop Map Awareness

To improve at Valorant, study the maps in detail and go through the zones to remember them. Knowing the names of the map zones will improve communication in the team and understanding where the enemy is and where to move faster during the game. Do not forget to follow the minimap, as it gives you enough information about the enemy and the actions of your team. You should also understand which Valorant agent is most effective on which map. For instance, a map with narrow corridors might favor an agent with area denial abilities, while a map with open spaces might be better for an agent with long-range attacks.

Communicate Effectively

Here’s my Valorant tip for you: don’t underestimate communication! Valorant is a team-based competitive game, so a team that works together and uses voice and text communication will have an advantage over those who just play solo with randoms and don’t interact at all or interact poorly.

Optimize Your Crosshair

You should adjust the crosshair so that it is convenient for you to aim. I recommend adjusting the crosshair so that its color is clearly visible and does not merge with the environment, and its size is such that you can comfortably view it on the screen.

Focus On The Target, Not Your Crosshair

One of the most important Valorant tips is to keep an eye on the target, not your crosshair. At first, you may have to control yourself and deliberately look away from the crosshair, exploring the surroundings.

Master Strafing Techniques

Remember this Valorant tip: If you stand still, you are an easy target. Train yourself to move from side to side, like a boxer dancing in the ring. Apply the same logic here – short movements to the left and right will make it difficult for the opponent to hit you. Similarly, always check corners before coming out. Only do so when you are sure no one is around the corner. Keep moving all the time.

Adapt Your Spray Control By Weapon

Make sure to familiarize yourself with the different weapons in the game as they all behave differently when fired. Not every weapon is suitable for every game situation, so it’s important to spend time in the training room to learn and practice using each weapon’s spray.

Understand Movement Mechanics

Remember that in Valorant, just like in CS2, your shooting will be more accurate when you stand still. When you move and shoot, it increases the spread of your weapon. It will be harder to hit accurately, especially if you have not trained your recoil control. The balance between strafes and finding the right moment when to stop to accurately aim for a shot is a crucial mechanical skill that you should improve if you want to get better at Valorant.

Prioritize First-shot Accuracy

One common mistake new players make when they spot an enemy is holding down the trigger and firing the whole clip at once, hoping that at least one bullet will hit the target. Instead, try aiming and firing short bursts. This will give you better accuracy and help you control the spray, making it easier to take down the enemy quickly.

Understand The Ranking System

Playing at low ranks is not the same as playing at high ranks – that’s what you should keep in mind if you want to learn how to get better at Valorant. In addition, you should know that not all ranks can play together in one match. As you climb the ranks, you’ll face opponents with advanced mechanical skills and precise aim more frequently. These opponents will have a deep understanding of the game, including the maps, tactics, and strategies. As a result, simply having trained aim and advanced skills may not be enough to win. Winning will require a well-coordinated team, diverse tactics and strategies for specific maps, and the ability to quickly and correctly respond to various in-game situations.

Valorant ranks

Analyze Your Losses

Remember, every fall is a step towards success. If you find yourself losing often and with a low MMR rating, don’t be discouraged. Instead, use it as an opportunity to learn. Record your gameplay, identify your mistakes, and understand how your actions led to certain outcomes. This process of learning from your failures and adjusting your gameplay is the best way to level-up at Valorant.

Watch Streamers And Pro Players

Watching and analyzing the games of professional players on popular streaming platforms is a good help if you wonder how to get good at Valorant. You will not improve your results if you just watch the games of professionals. But if you notice details, how the players move around the map, how they use weapons, what tactics they use, etc., and try to apply what you see, then over time you will understand the game more deeply.

How Long Does It Take To Get Good At Valorant?

The speed at which players get better at Valorant varies greatly. Some people have a natural talent for gaming and can pick things up quickly, while others may require more time and practice to improve their game sense. In the competitive gaming community, there’s a belief that even after playing for 1000 hours, you may still be considered a beginner. Furthermore, in Valorant, being successful depends not only on your individual skills but also on how well you work together with your teammates, as it is a team-based game.

My last and probably most important piece of advice on how to get better at Valorant is to remember that you play this game to relax and have fun, unless you’re a professional player. Practice, gather a team of like-minded players, and you will become much better at Valorant over time!

Valorant Mobile Release Date

Riot has not announced the exact release date, leaving fans guessing when Valorant is coming to mobile. The game was expected to be released in late 2024, however, according to the latest info, we’ll have to wait till mid-2025 to enjoy Valorant on mobile.

When Is Valorant Mobile Beta Coming Out?

Although Riot Games has not announced an official release date for Valorant Mobile, thanks to constant gameplay leaks and closed beta testing in China, we can likely expect the release of Valorant Mobile in early 2025. The developers have stated that they want the game’s mobile version to be as good as the PC version, so the final game’s quality is a priority for them over releasing a raw product. Therefore, we all should be patient, and wait just a little bit more to download Valorant Mobile beta.

When is Valorant coming to mobile?

Can I Pre-register For Valorant Mobile?

No, there is currently no information about an open Valorant Mobile beta test except for the exclusive, closed beta in China. However, a third-party application, Valoran Mobile, has already appeared on Android, where pre-registration has begun.

Development Issues

According to the head of the Valorant game studio, Anna Donlon, the development of the game’s mobile version turned out to be “incredibly challenging”, she stated during Valorant Masters Madrid Special Press Conference. The development took longer than they expected. This delay is due to the fact that this is not a direct transfer of the game from PC to mobile platforms. The development is carried out from scratch, taking into account all the features of Android and iOS.

Will Valorant Mobile Be Cross-Platform?

No, Valorant Mobile will not support cross-play with PC due to the obvious difference in skill and input methods on different platforms and many other technical nuances. Therefore, the game’s mobile version will be separate from the PC and unique in terms of gaming experience.

Valorant Mobile Differences From The PC And Console Versions

Valorant Mobile will be very similar to the PC version. Still, Riot is aiming to create a unique experience for mobile players and fully adapt it to the features and limitations of mobile devices. Based on various gameplay leaks and screenshots on Twitter, I can say that the developers are coping with this goal, and the mobile version is very similar to its older brother on PC.

Weapons, Valorant agents, skins, and maps look almost the same on the small screens of mobile devices. One of the key gameplay differences in the mobile version will be the shorter duration of matches. On PC, a match lasts more than 30 minutes on average, and the team that wins 13 rounds wins. In Valorant Mobile, the number of rounds for victory will be reduced to better adapt the game to the mobile gaming experience.

Leaks And Rumors

The main leaks are related to the closed beta, which took place in China, where the invited gamers could see the gameplay, agents, various skins, and maps. In addition, we also now know that in-game replays will be added to Valorant Mobile, which the developers have not yet been able to implement on PC. In addition, you will be able to play Valorant on Mobile in a unique Team Deathmatch mode.

Find A Valorant Mobile Team In Advance

Prepare for Valorant matches on mobile gadgets! In the GameTree app, you can meet players who are just as eagerly awaiting the release of Valorant Mobile as you are. Chat with other fans, discuss news, and gather your dream team in advance to rush into the game from mobile devices. Valorant Mobile should be truly unique, and you’d better join the game from the first days of release!

Valorant is a highly popular first-person shooter with a huge audience of both casual players and professionals. However, until recently, Valorant was only available for PC players, which was somewhat limiting for fans who prefer to play on consoles (like me, to a certain extent). So, what’s now, is Valorant cross-platform on PC and PS5? Well below, I will tell you everything you need to know about Valorant crossplay and cross-platform features and Riot Games’ plans.

Is Valorant Cross Platform?

Yes, since July 2024 Valorant is cross-platform and, therefore is available on PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PS5. Those gamers who wonder if Valorant is cross-platform will be happy to know that Riot Games held a limited beta test for Valorant on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in June 2024, where selected lucky players were able to try out the game. After many positive reviews, Riot released Valorant for some regions on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S later on. So now players from the United States and Canada, Europe, Japan, and Brazil can finally play their favourite Valorant agents on consoles.

Is Valorant Crossplay Between The PC, PS5, And Xbox Series X?

No, Valorant doesn’t support cross-play between PC and consoles. However, Valorant is crossplay between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This way, console players can play with each other, regardless of the brand of console they prefer. Although PC players can only join parties with other PC users.

Also, when Valorant Mobile releases, it won’t support crossplay functionality with PC and consoles.

Is There Cross-progression In Valorant?

Yes, ever since Valorant became multiplatform game, there is a cross-progression between platforms, and players can use their Valorant ID to transfer all of their achievements from PC to console. That is, your skins, game progression, purchases, and achievements can be freely transferred from one platform to another and back soon.

What The Community Has To Say

The community has welcomed the console version of Valorant very warmly. Most players’ impressions of the beta have been positive, and they are very excited. Other gamers say that despite the difficulties with aiming, using a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse feels like something new and completely different. Therefore, Valorant on PC and consoles are like two different games that bring a fresh sensation. It looks like Riot is doing a good job bringing their game to consoles.

The Potential For The Future Changes

According to Riot, the console versions of Valorant feature “custom-built gameplay,” and there will be no crossplay between the console and PC for competitive balance. This topic always raises a heated discussion in the gaming community, which also happened this time. However, the developers want to ensure a fair experience across all platforms. This decision is understandable since the whole point is in the differences and nuances of the control schemes on the gamepad and keyboard with the mouse. Who knows, maybe in the future, Riot will implement the input-method matchmaking and enable Valorant console crossplay.

Cross-Region Play And Its Complications

Regional restrictions in Valorant are an attempt to improve the gaming experience, but they segment the community. On the one hand, this provides better game quality and reduced latency, but on the other hand, players are limited to game servers in specific regions. Regional blocking can be easily bypassed using a VPN, allowing players to access servers in other regions. However, this approach will come with certain challenges, such as potential latency issues that will negatively impact the game.

Tired Of Looking For Valorant Teammates? Try GameTree

While Valorant console crossplay is not integrated, you can only play on PC. If there are no PC users among your friends, and you don’t want to play with total strangers, I recommend that you find Valorant players on GameTree. Using the built-in player matchmaking, you can select players who match your rank abilities, are in a suitable region, and want to play with you. The process takes just a couple of minutes! GameTree makes finding partners to play with much easier, and when Valorant becomes crossplay, the player base will expand even more.

Final Thoughts

The release of Valorant on consoles is a long-awaited event, and I don’t think it will be a big deal that PC and console players will play separately. In any case, the game must first be released without significant bugs, and the presence of cross-progression will solve half the problems. Anyway, I’m really looking forward to the date when Valorant becomes cross-platform and to the opportunity to play it on PlayStation 5 with my friends!

Valorant is a constantly evolving game with a serious eSports scene and high cash prizes. Like Apex Legends and other hero shooters, Valorant devs are always shaking things up, adding new content and making balance changes. Each season, some heroes get buffs and become meta, while others get nerfed and fall out of favor. With every new patch, the meta shifts. Therefore, the topic of meta will always be relevant on the Internet, and it’s crucial to know which heroes are top picks and which to avoid. That’s why I’ve put together this Valorant tier list for patch 10.01, highlighting the current must-play agents.

No Episodes Anymore

VALORANT’s time structure underwent a major change in 2025, moving from Episodes to an annual Season system. Each Season lasts a full year and is divided into six Acts, with Season 2025 being the first implementation of this format. Each Act runs for approximately two months, featuring its own Battle Pass, Competitive changes, and Premier stage.

The game receives two types of updates: mid-Act patches focusing on bug fixes and optimization, and more substantial inter-Act patches that can include map pool rotations, new agents, new maps, balance changes, and Battle Pass transitions. Players must complete placement matches at the start of each Act to establish their rank, and they receive an Act Rank badge based on their previous performance.

Under this new system, rank resets occur twice: once at the beginning of Season 2025 and again at a designated midseason point. This represents a significant shift from the previous Episode structure, while maintaining the Act system as the primary timeframe for major content releases and competitive progression.

Valorant Agent Tier List Breakdown

The Valorant tier list ranks agents based on their importance and usefulness during a specific period, usually between patch releases or sudden balance changes. It’s key to remember that a lower-tier agent isn’t useless; the Valorant agent tier list just shows which agents have higher win rates. Picking heroes from the top of the list is generally more profitable in a given season than choosing those from the bottom.

SS-tier Agents

This Valorant tier list contains the best agents as of patch 9.11, and they are best suited to start ranking up.

Jett

Jett

Jett is an excellent agent duelist, ideal for those who love speed, mobility, and quick and unexpected attacks. Her abilities allow her to be practically elusive and effectively cause sabotage on the battlefield. Considered one of the best abilities in the game, her Tailwind allows her to quickly move and initiate or even avoid gunfights.

Tip:

Even though Jett is a very mobile duelist, she also can control thanks to the Cloudburst ability. It can create additional cover with smoke screens.

Clove

Clove is a versatile agent who can both aggressively attack and tactically cover their team. Clove has excellent abilities for controlling the map and supporting their team. Yet, they are not an easy agent to master as to effectively use their abilities, you need to master cooldowns.

Clove

Tip:

One of the features of Clove is that their smoke remains on the map even if the agent is dead.

S-tier Agents

“S-tier” characters are considered to be exceptionally strong and highly effective within the game’s current meta. These agents are perferct for both casual and competitive play due to their powerful abilities and versatility.

Reyna

Reyna

Like Jett, Reyna is one of the best Valorant agents of the duelist type and my favorite pick. She has high mobility and an aggressive playing style, making her popular among solo players. However, this agent’s effectiveness depends on kills and the player’s mechanical skills. Also, her limited usefulness to the team makes her a difficult agent best suited to experienced players.

Tip:

Use the Dismiss ability to quickly get out of trouble or get into position for surprise attacks.

Tejo

Tejo’s S-tier ranking is justified by his exceptional site control and initiation capabilities.

What solidifies his S-tier status is “Armageddon,” a game-changing ultimate that can split sites in half or completely deny retake attempts with its line of explosions. While this kit makes him incredibly strong, he stays out of SS-tier due to the time investment required to maximize his drone and targeting abilities, which can leave his team temporarily without his presence in fast-paced executes.

Tejo

Tip:

The best agents to pair with Tejo are Jett, Neon, Raze, Brimstone, and Killjoy.

Iso

Iso

Iso was among the best agents in Valorant in the previous patch, and the developers agreed to lower some of his abilities after fans complained. However, even after Double Tap and Shield were nerfed a bit, Iso can still use Shield without killing first, which makes him very strong.

Tip:

When Iso uses Shield, his hitbox increases. You should remember this when hiding around the corner; otherwise, enemies will easily see you.

Cypher

Cypher is the best Valorant agent for monitoring the map and collecting information. His abilities allow him to block vision, inform your team about the enemy’s movements, and prevent enemies from flanking your team. In addition, Cypher has the extremely useful Neural Theft ability, thanks to which he can determine the exact location of enemies.

Cypher

Tip:

When you place and use a camera, enemies can hear it and destroy it, especially if you place it in obvious places.

Vyse

Vyse, introduced in Episode 9 Act 2, is a Sentinel agent who manipulates liquid metal to control the battlefield. Her abilities, such as Razorvine, which deploys invisible nests that slow and damage enemies upon activation, and Shear, placing hidden wall traps that isolate opponents, make her a formidable presence in defensive scenarios. Her signature ability, Arc Rose, allows her to deploy concealed devices that can be remotely activated to blind opponents, while her ultimate, Steel Garden, jams enemy primary weapons within its area of effect, forcing them to rely on secondary arms.

Tip:

Strategic placement and precise timing are crucial to maximizing Vyse’s disruptive potential, making her an asset to teams that value control and manipulation on the battlefield.

A-tier Agents

This Valorant tier list includes agents who are highly performing and are almost always a good choice in any situation.

Gekko

Gekko is an interesting agent with unique abilities that help the team gain an advantage in various game situations. He is also a good choice for beginners not knowing much about the Valorant agents tier list, nerfs, buffs, and all that stuff. His ability to pick up his skills back after use makes him especially useful. Gekko is effective when interacting with agents that can increase the damage taken by enemies or slow down their movement speed.

Gekko

Tip:

Remember that Gekko’s main role on the battlefield is to remain in the shadows of his team as long as possible, helping them gather information.

Sova

Sova

Sova is a versatile agent and excellent initiator with information-gathering abilities who performs well in all game modes. Mastering his abilities requires understanding the maps, but in experienced hands, this agent provides a serious advantage to his team. You should also remember that his reconnaissance devices are easy to destroy. For this reason, despite his other abilities and general usefulness, he is already slightly less popular than before.

Tip:

An aggressive playstyle and early duels are not the best tactics for this agent.

Omen

Omen is a versatile controller that has become more popular on the Valorant character tier list with recent patches. He has one of the best ultimates, allowing him to teleport quickly. A variety of skills allow Omen to play both aggressively and support the team, thanks to the ability to blind the enemy. Omen is an excellent agent for compositions aimed at gaining strategic advantages and opportunities to quickly push the enemy.

Omen

Tip:

Omen’s ability to destroy an entire enemy team is highly dependent on the skill of your whole squad and coordinated play.

Sage

Sage

Sage will always be among the most sought-after agents thanks to her healing abilities unless she is nerfed in future patches. Her Healing Sphere can heal any party member or Sage herself. Thanks to her ultimate, her healing capabilities become even wider since she can also resurrect teammates. In addition, she can create additional cover and slow down enemies.

Tip:

Sage is mainly a support agent. While she can heal herself, it is more effective in most cases to focus on healing team members.

Raze

Raze has undergone changes that have affected mobility. Her Blast Pack has reduced her ability to reposition and evade enemies. Despite this, Raze is still a master of explosions, but it may take some time to get used to her changes. Her ultimate still deals massive damage in the area, and her varied arsenal, whether it’s a Boom Bot (which explodes and provides information on enemy locations) or grenades, makes her an effective duelist.

Raze

Tip:

Use Blast Packs to penetrate locations. It’s also better to use shotguns in these situations, as they cover a larger area when fired and do more damage up close.

Neon

Neon

Neon was among the best Valorant agents in patch 8.11, and there have been no significant changes to her abilities in the current patch 9.11. She remains a good choice for players who can unleash the agent’s potential and can handle her speed and aggressive playstyle. She is one of the fastest agents in the game. Her High Gear ability, coupled with Fast Lane, which blocks the vision of everyone around her, makes Neon a dangerous duelist and a good pick.

Tip:

Use Relay Bolt on walls or ceilings, and it will always stun players on the ground. This technique will surprise enemies since they will not see where it is flying from.

B-tier Agents

These are reliable agents yet lacking the effectiveness and strength on the battlefield to rank higher. However, agents from this Valorant tier list can contribute to a productive match in the right hands and with skillful use.

Brimstone

Brimstone is a solid controller whose abilities have improved slightly in the new patch. Sky Smoke’s range has been increased, providing even better coverage of key areas of the map. Brimstone’s abilities are great for slowing down the enemy and for covering the team to safely capture a section of the map.

Brimstone

Tip:

Since Brimstone’s main feature is to block the enemy’s vision with his incredibly powerful smokes, you should smoke the most important areas of the plant site before your team starts pushing.

Chamber

Chamber

Chamber is among the best Valorant agents of the sentinel type. When used correctly, he is a good defense against late flanks. Chamber is quite a complex agent and requires good mechanical skills from the player. Yet, he is very useful for the team due to his powerful ultimate ability. He can also quickly get out of firefights thanks to the ability to teleport.

Tip:

Use Trademarks in non-obvious places, and do not place them behind obstacles or boxes that may be shot.

Yoru

Yoru is a difficult duelist to master, though he can offer different ways to fight your opponent and turn the tide of battle in your favor. Yoru is a decoy specialist, thanks to his Fakeout ability, which creates a clone of himself and blinds the enemy if they shoot at it. Thanks to his teleport ability and his ultimate, which makes him invisible for a while, Yoru can sneak behind enemy lines and strike without being noticed.

Yoru

Tip:

Fakeout is an incredibly useful ability if you learn how to use it well. For example, when simulating a push, forcing defenders to change positions or misleading attackers, making them wary of possible flanks.

Killjoy

Killjoy

Killjoy is an excellent choice from this Valorant tier list for defensive strategies. Even though her turret has been slightly weakened, it remains very effective, but you should consider that it takes time to install. Killjoy’s skills allow you to collect information about the enemy, deal good damage, and set up various traps to control the territory. The sentinel’s incredibly powerful ultimate can greatly slow down enemies for a while and prevent them from equipping items or interacting with anything, giving a huge advantage to your team.

Tip:

Remember that the main use of the turret is to gather information, not to cause damage.

Phoenix

Phoenix is not the strongest Valorant agent compared to other duelists, and many consider him to be quite predictable. Yet, he is a good choice for getting acquainted with the game’s mechanics. He can both blind opponents with Curveball and heal himself. You can also use Blaze and Hot Hands to deal damage and slow enemies.

Phoenix

Tip:

If you know that an enemy is not far from you, cast your ultimate further around the corner – this will prevent enemies from trying to push you and will not let you die twice.

Deadlock

Deadlock

Deadlock is a fairly balanced guardian agent and has received minor improvements. Still, she requires further balancing to become more competitive and rank higher on the Valorant agent tier list. One of the significant changes was made to her Gravnet ability – now, players caught in the net need to manually remove it, which slightly increases the time of this action. In addition, the developers increased the range and durability of some of her abilities. In general, she can cope well with her role – she can easily block one of the entrances to the location. Thanks to the Sonic Sensor ability of Deadlock, it won’t be a surprise for your team if they try to flank you.

Tip:

To play Deadlock effectively, you must learn to correctly use the Annihilation ultimate on each map.

C-tier Agents

These are also good agents, but they have limited utility to the team or lack power compared to the other heroes from the Valorant agent tier lists above.

Skye

Skye has been very popular for the last few patches. She was a formidable opponent on the battlefield as she provided strong support to the team and could heal allies and effectively hunt down enemies. That is why she was recently weakened in the agent tier list in Valorant, and now she does not have as much of an impact on the battlefield as before. However, she can still provide support to her team. Her current weakness is that she is unable to handle most situations without the support of her teammates. I look forward to seeing how she will be balanced in future patches.

Skye

Tip:

A popular way to play as Skye is to use fake flash. Opponents tend to look away if they see or hear her hawk to avoid being blinded. This can be used for quick reconnaissance or to kill an enemy: launch the hawk, but don’t blow it up.

Viper

Viper

Viper is one of the best agents in Valorant and can deal massive damage, but a recent patch has nerfed her. In general, she remains a rather difficult agent to master. Viper is good at area blocking and control, using her powerful, toxic abilities to dominate. Her ultimate, Viper’s Pit, creates a chemical cloud and deals damage to everyone within its radius.

Tip:

Toxic Screen is one of Viper’s key abilities, and you need to learn how to use it well to create safe passages for your team, especially in open areas, or to prevent an enemy’s push.

Fade

Fade is a good initiator but very specific, not as strong when compared to other agents on the Valorant tier list, and quite difficult to master. However, Fade is a good addition to any team with the ability to stun targets and take their vision away. Thanks to her Seize ability, she can highlight enemies for a few seconds, and Prowler will chase nearby enemies, revealing their location. Her ultimate will scan the area, deal additional damage, and help the team quickly clear and control the space.

Fade

Tip:

Place the Haunt as high as possible, as it reveals everyone within its line of sight. To make it more difficult for the enemy to hide from it, throw it onto the roofs of buildings, windows, hills, etc.

Breach

Breach

Breach has not undergone any changes in the latest patch and remains a strong choice for team play. His abilities allow him to deal good damage and blind opponents, making it difficult for them to hold positions. Breach is most effective when paired with duelists or agents with a control focus.

Tip:

Breach’s abilities are loud and destructive, which can be useful for fake site hits. Also, don’t be afraid to use an item to check that the corner is clean.

D-tier Agents

In this Valorant tier list, there are agents who are not very suitable for ranked games in this patch due to some restrictions or balance changes.

KAY/O

KAY/O is a good initiator with excellent neutralizing abilities that will help the team cope with breaking through the enemy’s defense. His grenades and flash cards provide good support to push duelists. His ult and ZERO/POINT abilities suppress the enemy’s abilities, thus opening the window for a successful attack for his team. KAY/O is a unique agent who can provide significant support, but he also needs cover since he is quite vulnerable when he needs to escape from the enemy.

KAY/O

Tip:

Always coordinate with your team when using a flash so you don’t waste flashes on the same corner as your teammates. Make sure your flashbang doesn’t blind your teammates.

Astra

Astra

Astra, once a very popular and strong controller, is now weakened. She’s still a good agent but quite difficult to master. It’s especially difficult to get used to her movement around the map in Astral Form. Astra can control large areas well, but using her effectively requires good teamplay and synchronization of her abilities with the team’s actions. If you don’t have a well-organized team, you can assemble one using GameTree and play all matches with the same composition. Then, you will develop the ability to work together and use Astra in the most beneficial way.

Tip:

Plan in advance with your team to place Stars earlier for a quick push or later so as not to give away information about yourself. You can also use them for fake sites and confuse the enemy.

Harbor

Harbor has not received any changes in the Valorant tier list in the current patch. He can provide reliable cover for the team, and his abilities allow him to both slow down opponents and block vision. However, his effectiveness and popularity are not as great as those of many other agents. Still, everything can change if the developers make significant changes to his balance.

Harbor

Tip:

Harbor is most effective when he uses his abilities from a distance. Don’t rush or be in the first line, quickly leading to your death at the beginning of the round.

This tier list is updated regularly to reflect the latest game patches and meta shifts. Last updated: 7 January 2025.

Valorant is a hero shooter where each agent has their own role and unique abilities. As in other popular hero shooters, the outcome of the match often depends on the correct composition here. A well-balanced team that will be the counter pick of the enemy team is the key to a successful strategy and victory in the match, along with the correct use of the unique abilities of each agent for the current patch. As a Valorant player, I decided to put together this little guide that will help you pick the best agents for each map in Valorant and put together a winning composition.

About The Different Valorant Agent Types

In Valorant, all heroes not only have unique abilities but are also divided into categories that determine their role, behavior and strategy in the match. In fact, you assemble your Valorant team comp by picking appropriate players of different roles for balance. There are four categories in the game: Duelists, Sentinels, Controllers, and Initiators.

Duelists

Duelists are the main damage dealers. These heroes are often the first to initiate and force the fight, making the most kills. Breaking through the enemy’s defenses and inflicting the greatest amount of damage is the main role of this category of heroes.

Valorant Duelists
Image from TheGamer

Sentinels

Sentinels are heroes who specialize in defense. Their main task is to block critical areas of the map, guard objects, and cover the flanks of their teammates. Their ability to hold flanks, as well as assist allies and gather important information about the enemy, makes this role one of the most demanding. A good tank in a team can change the outcome of a match.

Valorant Sentinels
Image from TheGamer

Controllers

Controllers are the best agents for each map in Valorant to control the battle. They are able to cut off dangerous areas of the territory and prevent the enemy team from trying to implement their strategy in every possible way. With abilities like smoke screens, they can separate the enemy and provide critical support to their team members.

Valorant Controllers
Image from TheGamer

Initiators

Initiators are another class of support that can provide valuable information about the enemy and open a window of opportunity to force a fight on favorable terms for their team. Their role is to provide easy kills for their team, and they have a different arsenal to successfully implement their role, be it blinding or damaging hiding enemies. While Controllers provide defensive support and disrupt the enemy’s plans, Initiators provide offensive support by exposing the enemy team’s weaknesses and helping to quickly deal devastating damage.

Best Valorant Team Comps For Each Map

To successfully play and have productive matches in Valorant, you need to start with the map when creating a composition. Each map requires its own approach to strategies and picking heroes. Knowing the basics of each map and agent will allow you to create the best compositions that will have an advantage on each specific map. Based on my experience playing the game in different squads, I have a lot to tell you about choosing the best agents for each map in Valorant.

Ascent

Ascent Valorant map
Map from Tracker.gg

Ascent is an open playground where success depends on knowing the capture points. Ascent is a floating island and has alternate entrances to sites. This is a balanced card and does not give any advantage to either side. For this reason, you need to approach the selection of players for your team responsibly to win on this map.

  • The map has a lot of sharp turns and corners, so skills such as Sova’s ricocheting recon bolts and KAY/O’s coverage-reliant knives will be extremely effective.
  • Many professionals choose Sova, KAY/O, and Killjoy as the best team comp for this Valorant map. Another good pairing for Brimstone would be Deadlock.
  • This composition is safe for attack from different sides. The combination of Brimstone, Sova, and Reyna will initiate the attack no matter whether you decide to go in front or from the middle, while Killjoy and KAY/O will provide cover from hidden players of the enemy teams.
AgentWin Rate
Duelist: Reyna49.2%
Sentinel: Killjoy49.8%
Controller: Brimstone50.2%
Initiator: Sova 49%
Initiator: KAY/O 45.1%

Pearl

Pearl Valorant map
Map from Tracker.gg

Pearl can be a tricky card for players who prefer to play with randoms. Numerous passages and choke points require map knowledge and control, and the wide mid-zone leaves players vulnerable to snipers and lurkers.

  • Since this map has complex geography and a lot of places out of sight, Cypher, Astra and Fade will be very useful here. Cypher and Fade will be able to collect information about the enemy and not endanger the team, and Astra, with the help of her stars, will be able to set traps for unwary players.
  • KAY/O is an excellent Initiator on his own and will do well on this map. When paired with Astra, they can combine their skills and prevent the enemy from entering, planting, or defusing. Thus, I call this tandem the best Valorant team comp for this map.
  • Neon is an excellent duelist for Pearl due to her speed and ability to defend territory. Her wall provides a safe entry point that limits vision from the numerous angles, and her stun and sprint allow her to get several rebounds when used correctly.
AgentWin Rate
Duelists: Neon49.1%
Sentinel: Cypher46.8%
Controller: Astra49.1%
Initiator: KAY/O 48.8%
Initiator: Fade49%

Split

Split Valorant Map
Map from Tracker.gg

Split takes us to Japantown, whose main feature is a pair of sites separated by an overpass in the center, accessed by two rope ladders. At each site there is a structure, the control of which is very important. Obviously, this influences the selection of the best agents for this map in Valorant.

  • The duo of Raze and Jett will be the basis for quickly rushing into battle and causing maximum damage. Also, instead of Jett, Deadlock could be a good pairing for Raze.
  • Sage will provide a pair of duelists with reliable protection thanks to his wall and orbs. He can not only block mid but also cover more territory.
  • Omen will be an additional support since his smokes are great for this map. His smoke drops and blindness are also great for quickly moving between sites and redeploying.
  • Sage is the best Sentinel agent for this map in Valorant as his improved ultimate reveals enemies twice, and his utilities are ideal for both starting a fight and defending and retreating. His trips can also block duelists and initiators of the enemy team, and his spycam is always useful for reconnaissance.
AgentWin Rate
Duelists: Raze 51%
Duelists: Jett49%
Sentinel: Cypher 49%
Sentinel: Sage 50.5%
Controller: Omen50%

Breeze

Breeze Valorant mapf
Map from Tracker.gg

Breeze is a tropical island with old ruins and caves. The map has wide areas for long-range combat, so cover and flank control play an important role, as well as many access points for maneuvers and tactical actions.

  • Since Breeze is a huge map with open spaces, you will need a very agile duelist. Jett or Reyna would be good candidates for this role.
  • Viper will be the key hero in this Valorant team comp since control is very important on this map, and her wall and smoke utils are ideal for this.
  • Sova and KAY/O are a popular combo on this map and are often used in the professional scene. Despite the large size of the map, they have all the necessary utilities for successfully positioning the enemy.
  • Chamber is also a very popular choice on this map as he can easily cover a fairly large area.

Bind

Bind Valorant Map
Map from Tracker.gg

Bind is a map to unleash the capabilities of lurkers and snipers thanks to medium-length corridors. The map consists of two sites, no middle ground, and one-way teleports.

  • Since there are several entry points on the map, which can be both an advantage and a vulnerability, reliable defense is extremely important. Brimstone should definitely be on your Valorant team comp.
  • Astra and Sage will provide support, covering corners and preventing push thanks to Astra’s stars combined with Skye’s ultimate and Sage’s wall.
  • Skye and Raze will be the attacking duo in this composition. Skye’s flashes and wolf can curve into corners, and Raze deals devastating damage to the enemy.

Icebox

Icebox Valorant map
Map from Tracker.gg

Icebox is a fairly balanced map with plenty of opportunities to outwit your opponent. The map has vertical ziplines to quickly move and climb to spike sites. Keep this in mind when choosing the best agents for each map in Valorant.

  • Viper is a nice choice here as her wall provides excellent cover wherever you place it.
  • Killjoy paired with Viper will provide the best defense on this map and will pose a threat to any enemy.
  • Sova here is a classic Initiator due to her recon abilities.
  • Sage is a good support position since she can revive fallen comrades, and her wall and slowing sphere distract the enemy.

Fracture

Fracture Valorant map
Map from Tracker.gg

Fracture consists of many corridor labyrinths that require detailed knowledge of the map. This map combines head-on encounters with attackers with alternating defense strengthening. Defenders appear in the center, and attackers move along ziplines. Despite this, attackers have an advantage due to numerous options for initiating an attack.

  • With a large number of entry points on the map, Brimstone is a great choice due to the flexible smoke placement.
  • Fade, Breach and Brimstone form the best team comp for this Valorant map that can not only suppress the enemy and gather important information but also provide a window of opportunity for Raze and Chamber to exit.
  • Chamber and Breach will prevent enemy push attempts, and Breach and Fade will strengthen the defense with excellent ultimate abilities.

Lotus

Lotus Valorant map
Map from Tracker.gg

Lotus is an interesting map that has unique mechanics and many opportunities to implement your strategy. There are three sites on the map, swing doors, and destructible barriers. In my opinion, this map requires good team synergy, quick adaptation, and early map control. So, choose the best Valorant agents for this map wisely.

  • The many areas that divide this map are ideal for a duelist like Jett.
  • In this Valorant team comp, the new agent Harbor will perform well. Thanks to his abilities, he will be able to easily penetrate enemy territory and also defend well.
  • Flexible blinds of Skye and Trailblazer pave the way for safe penetration.
  • Skye will act as a scout here as she can check angles without putting the team in danger.
  • Viper’s ultimate will significantly reduce enemy vision, which is very important for such large maps.

Haven

Haven is considered a difficult map due to the complicated defense of some sites, but overall, it is a balanced map with equal opportunities for both attackers and defenders. Quick map control will provide a reliable advantage for either team.

  • Breach and Skye will pair up and start a battle.
  • Jett will act as the main damage dealer, supported by Skye’s flashes and Breach abilities such as Fault Line.
  • Omen will be the most effective controller on this map as he will provide reliable cover thanks to his smoke range and teleport ability.
  • Killjoy would also be among the best agents for this map in Valorant as her abilities are great for blocking an area, allowing Omen and Skye to scout other areas.

Sunset

Sunset Valorant map
Map from Tracker.gg

Sunset is one of the favorite maps among players, including me. It features a traditional layout: two sites and three lanes. The map provides players with ample opportunities to implement various strategies with a balance towards the attacking side, since it is more convenient for them to attack from several sides simultaneously.

  • Raze is one of the best duelists and performs well on this map both in attack and defense. Paint Shells and Boom-bot are great for taking control of the map.
  • Sunset is a map where lurkers do well, so Cypher will fit perfectly into this Valorant team comp. When attacking, his variety of utilities will give him an advantage. The lack of restrictions on the range of utilities allows him to easily follow the flank while maintaining his position.
  • Omen, thanks to his smokes and teleport, is excellent at controlling the map and will provide an advantage for his team.
  • Fade will be very valuable both in scouting and when paired with Breach as a second Initiator. H can provide opportunities for effective Raze bursts.

Abyss

Abyss is a distinctive map featuring vertically-oriented gameplay with multiple elevation levels and ziplines connecting different areas. The map’s unique verticality creates opportunities for both aggressive plays and strategic holds. With its three-site layout and numerous flanking routes, Abyss demands strong communication, adaptable positioning, and creative utility usage. Select your agents carefully to maximize control over this challenging environment.

  • The multi-level design and vertical sightlines make Chamber an exceptional pick, allowing him to hold powerful angles with his Operator and teleport between positions.
  • Omen thrives on this map due to his teleport ability, which can access unexpected high ground positions and create surprising angles.
  • Fade’s prowlers and haunt ability can effectively clear the map’s numerous corners and elevation changes without exposing teammates.
  • Raze’s movement abilities shine on Abyss, using satchel boosts to rapidly traverse vertical spaces and gain positional advantages.

Advanced Team Composition Strategies

Double Controller Setups

Running two controllers has become increasingly viable as maps grow more complex. This setup excels on larger maps like Breeze and Haven where controlling multiple areas simultaneously is crucial.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced site executes with layered smokes
  • Superior mid-control capabilities
  • Flexible rotations through controlled space
  • Extended utility duration for long post-plants

Recommended Pairings:

  • Viper + Omen: Combines persistent wall/orb with rechargeable smokes
  • Brimstone + Astra: Provides immediate coverage plus delayed utility
  • Harbor + Viper: Offers exceptional water/poison control for larger sites

Double controller comps typically sacrifice a duelist position, requiring initiators and sentinels to take more aggressive angles. This strategy works best with self-sufficient fraggers like Chamber or KAY/O who can entry when needed.

Triple Duelist Compositions

While considered unorthodox, triple duelist comps can overwhelm defenders through sheer aggression. This high-risk strategy thrives on maps with multiple entry points like Fracture or Bind.

When to Use:

  • Against defensive, utility-heavy opponents
  • On maps favoring multiple quick hits
  • With mechanically gifted players
  • During eco/force rounds for unexpected pressure

The typical structure includes one controller (usually Omen for versatility) and either a sentinel or initiator depending on the map. The philosophy is simple: overwhelm sites before utility becomes relevant.

Key to Success:

  • Coordinated entry timing
  • Trading kills effectively
  • Quick rotations
  • Disciplined post-plant positioning

Information-Heavy Comps

These compositions prioritize gathering intelligence before executing. By combining multiple recon agents, teams can make perfectly informed decisions.

Core Agents:

  • Sova/Fade for deep recon
  • Skye for close-range information
  • Cypher/Chamber for flank security
  • Viper/Astra for controlled executes

Information-heavy comps excel on maps with long sightlines and multiple pathways like Ascent and Icebox. The trade-off comes in raw fragging power, requiring precise utility usage to create advantages.

Strategic Approach:

  • Establish map control methodically
  • Use gathered information to identify weak points
  • Execute with precise utility combinations
  • Maintain information advantage throughout rounds

I started playing CS when I was studying in high school and I’m doing it now. Now, after almost twenty years, there are many more great shooters. So, meet the Valorant vs CS2 battle.

Of course, everyone chooses what they like, and it is impossible to tell for sure which shooter is better. As soon as they say, “Valorant is the best,” opponents with different opinions will immediately appear. General Facts About Valorant and CS2

Even if you are new to the realm of first-person shooters, you have probably heard about Valorant and Counter-Strike 2 (CS2). Both games have thousands of fans and are worthy representatives of esports. But what makes these games so popular? Let’s start with the basics.

Valorant

Valorant is developed by Riot Games, which already says a lot. In 2009, the company released the legendary League of Legends, and in 2019 — its mobile version. In 2020, the developers finally finished and released a new shooter — Valorant. It combines tactical shooter mechanics with character-based play. We will discuss all these details in the relevant sections below.

The principle of the game is quite simple: a team consists of 5 people (agents) who have unique abilities. In the game, it is important to not only shoot well but also be able to use your character’s skills. It is difficult to reach high levels in Valorant without knowing how to work as a team. Is Valorant better than CS2? Only if we take some technical aspects. For example, the game runs on servers with a rate of 128 ticks and uses the modern Vanguard anti-cheat system. So, it’s not that easy to cheat there.

Basic facts:

  • Released in 2020;
  • Shooter with character-based features;
  • Team of 5 people;
  • 128-tick servers.

CS2 and CS:GO

It’s too early to disregard the legendary Counter-Strike — the game has many advantages and a large army of fans. CS2 is the latest version of the legendary series that essentially created the FPS genre. It is based on its predecessor CS:GO but has more intense gameplay.

Unlike Valorant, the main focus of the developers was on tactics, bomb disposal scenarios, and hostage rescue. As a player with many years of experience, I will say that at pro levels, you need extreme accuracy and deep knowledge of maps.

The game was created by another famous company Valve, and the last version was released just recently, so many gamers contemplate over transition from Valorant to CS2. Just like Val, it is completely free. The game runs on 64-tick servers, which is slightly worse in terms of anti-cheating.

Basic facts:

  • Released in 2023 (last version);
  • Classical FPS;
  • Team of 5 people;
  • 64-tick servers.

Valorant VS CS2: Gameplay Comparison

When I first opened Valoran, it felt like I was playing a slightly redesigned CS game. The shooters are really similar at first glance. Both are played from the first person with teams and similar objectives. But when you start looking into the details, you notice many differences. This is true both for CS2 and CS:GO vs Valorant comparisons.

Thus, Val’s graphics are more refined and detailed. Each agent is unique, making the game visually pleasing. At the same time, CS2 focuses more on realistic shooting and dynamic details. For me, excitement and speed are more important than the visual aspect, but each player has their preferences. Do you want to understand the differences between the games? See the details in the text below.

Breaking Down Key Differences Between CS2 and Valorant

True fans can talk about these two great games endlessly. Not to waste your time and provide clear answers to possible questions, we have divided the technical part of our Valorant vs CS2 review into seven sections: core mechanics, story, game design, agents and abilities, weapons, game economy, and eSports scene. Let’s dive even deeper!

Core Mechanics

Is Valorant like CS2 in terms of core mechanics? Not at all. Games have fairly similar shooting mechanics but not the same. True, fans of the Val claim that shooting in Valorant is much more accurate. In addition, the game boasts different styles. So, I prefer to get close to enemies and use sprays, while many of my friends like to shoot from a long distance.

Also, it is important to note the opinion of the CS veterans (to whom I belong) that CS2 is the most complex shooter in history from a mechanical point of view. It is really difficult to hit, but with proper training, it brings great pleasure. Counter-Strike requires quick thinking, instant reactions, and a good understanding of where to aim.

Valorant

  • Smoother;
  • Easier to hit the enemy;
  • The average level of difficulty.

CS2

  • More rapid;
  • Requires proper training (especially for pro levels);
  • Realistic shooting mechanics.

Story

The idea of Valorant is similar to CS2. You find yourself on a map where two teams of 5 people participate. One team attacks, and the other defends. The attackers will win if they can plant a bomb (in Valorant, it is called a “spike”). And the task of the defenders is to neutralize it or kill all those attacking. In general, the idea is quite simple, which is good for a shooter.

Visuals and Game Design

Let’s be honest: we don’t play FPS games for the sake of design. However, beautiful skins and maps add to the satisfaction of good shooting. Valorant vs CS2 is, in some sense, a competition of different approaches to design. Counter-Strike faithfully adheres to tradition and maintains a more brutal and strict style that matches the entire series of games. Valorant features vibrant colors, clear details, and nice smoothing. If you watch another person play, you might momentarily forget that this is not a science-fiction film with flashy special effects.

Agents and Abilities

Agents and abilities are, perhaps, the aspect that differs the most in the Valorant vs CS2 confrontation. Let’s start with a younger shooter. In Val, each agent is unique and can do things other players cannot. This adds a certain strategic complexity to the game: victory depends not only on the skills of shooting and maneuvering but also on the ability to cooperate.

In CS2, all agents are the same but can use different weapons. Here, you will definitely need the ability to skillfully use machine guns and grenades. The personal efficiency of players and the ability to quickly react to what is happening on the map come to the fore.

One conclusion comes to mind: the one who plays with great players wins. I was looking for a team to play Valorant through GameTree. There, by the way, you can find teammates, friends, and people who are willing to share their best gaming practices. Check it out and let’s move to the weapons section.

Valorant

  • Unique agents;
  • Complex abilities;
  • Strategy-oriented.

CS2

  • Same agents with different weapons;
  • Tactical teamwork is crucial;
  • Personal skills are at the fore.

Weapons

Valorant, unlike CS2, has fictional models of weapons. Of course, they look like regular CS items, but still, this is a completely different story. In the Val player’s arsenal, there are six types of weapons, the analogs of which are also well-known to CS2 players.

Among the guns, you can find a standard analog of the Glock-18, which has an automatic firing mode. The Ghost is very similar to the CT USP-S weapon. When it comes to rifles, Valorant has a FAMAS Bulldog equivalent. There is also an analog M4A1-S weapon with a Phantom silencer.

Since Valorant is more focused on player abilities, there are no grenades like CS2 has. Of course, agents can blind the enemy or blow smoke. I prefer the classic approach of fighting with pistols and grenades, but this is a matter of taste.

Valorant

  • SMGs
  • Rifles
  • Shotguns
  • Machine guns

CS2

  • Pistols
  • Rifles
  • SMGs
  • Heavy weapons

Customization and Economy

Both Valorant and CS2 have an in-game economic system that allows you to purchase weapon skins. In Val, they have different levels and unique details. However, all customization is limited to the initially programmed design. You can buy skins in the store or at the night market. For deep understanding, it is important to learn Valorant ranks compared to CS2.

In CS2 you also have the opportunity to upgrade your weapons. Additionally, players can add stickers to their guns. Rare items make weapons much more valuable. Players can also customize their gloves, a handy feature not found in the Val shooter. In general, both games have quite interesting economic systems that can increase the excitement and enjoyment of the game (if you use resources wisely).

Esports Scene

Although Valorant was released much later than CS, there is very intense competition between these games in eSports. There is no doubt that Val has seized the initiative and is developing rapidly. Now, there is no clear consensus among experts regarding the question, “Will CS2 allow a new shooter to take the throne or not?”

Tournaments for both games are held regularly. The number of professional teams in the Counter Strike vs Valorant world is large. However, there is a difference. Val is more focused on a clear system of leagues and global tournaments, and in the CS world, there are many more independent competitions. The dispute about the winner is still far from being resolved — we will monitor the situation.

Valorant

  • International leagues;
  • China league;
  • Valorant masters;
  • Valorant champions.

CS2

  • BLAST Premier;
  • ESL Pro League;
  • CCT Global Finals.

Valorant vs CS2 Player Count

Valorant currently boasts an impressive player count, with estimates around 10 million monthly players, significantly outpacing Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), which has a peak of approximately 1.8 million. The game’s success has been bolstered by its recent crossplay release, allowing players across different platforms to compete together, enhancing its accessibility and player engagement

Things We Love About Valorant that CS2 Doesn’t Offer

The unique abilities of Valorant’s agents and the vibrant aesthetic are two of the game’s main selling points. They give us the opportunity to evaluate a shooter not only as a battle arena but also as a beautiful design project. To some extent, Valoran has its Universe with unique weapons, skins, and maps. Another plus is working on servers with a frequency of 128 ticks. For professionals, this matters.

What You Won’t Find in Valorant But Will in CS2

CS2 offers a high level of tactical gunplay and gun realism. It requires a lot of skill to win, which makes the game extremely fun. An important factor is the long history and close-knit community. Well, in the end, many veterans are simply not ready to exchange the good old CS for something new.

Final Thoughts

The choice between Valorant and CS2 depends on personal preference. I play both, but more often CS. Maybe it’s because I’ve known this game for over ten years. However, I am ready to admit that Val is the only FPS that can compete with Counter-Strike. I think you need to try both, and let me know which one you prefer in the end!

Valorant is a tactical first-person shooter developed by Riot Games, in which not only the skill of the players is important, but also the strategy. One of its key competitive advantages is the ranking system – a structured hierarchy that categorizes players depending on their skill and many other game parameters. This system puts players against players of roughly the same level, making each match a test of strategy, player accuracy, and teamwork. So, what ranks can play together in Valorant? In this article, I will share more details about ranks and answer the most painful question – why some ranks cannot play together?

About Valorant Ranks And Ranking System

Rank is a parameter that serves as a measure of your level and involvement in the game. When processing the Valorant ranked queue, the game takes into account your rank and hidden MMR. Thus, it determines which players in the lobby to match you with to ensure fairness and improve the overall gaming experience.

The rank system in Valorant consists of nine main ranks, starting with Iron and ending with Radiant. Each rank up to Ascendant is divided into three levels, reflecting the progression and development of players’ skills. The Valorant ranks are as follows:

  • Iron 1 – 3
  • Bronze 1 – 3
  • Silver 1 – 3
  • Gold 1 – 3
  • Platinum 1 – 3
  • Diamond 1 – 3
  • Ascendant 1 – 3
  • Immortal 1 – 3
  • Radiant – the highest rank goes to the top 500 players in the region.
Valorant ranks

To open the competitive mode and complete the initial calibration, you need to reach account level 20. After this, you will need to play five matches for the game to determine your starting rank and skill level.

What’s The Difference Between Rank And Act Rank?

While your rank is a general (and accurate) reflection of your skills and abilities, you also gain a separate act rank as you progress through each act. An act is the competitive period in the episode. In turn, an episode is the size of an event consisting of three acts. Your act rank is officially your highest win, which Riot likes to call “proven mastery“.

There is a hollow triangular token that you fill during the act, and miniature colored triangles appear in it as you play. Every time you win a competitive match, you will receive a triangle representing your rank. For example, brown is for Bronze rank, and silver is for Silver rank. No matter how many different colors of ranks fill the token, only the topmost triangle, your highest-ranked victory, will determine your act rank. It also determines the reward you will receive at the end of the act. Suppose you spent most of the in-game time with a Gold rank, but if you have a Diamond 1 victory, you would receive a Diamond rank reward.

What Ranks Can Play Together In Valorant?

Many Valorant players play solo and focus on improving their individual skills, but in order to climb the ranks and have better matches, you need to team up with somebody.

However, there are certain Valorant rank restrictions on players’ ability to team up across different ranks. If your ranks differ too much, you will not be able to play ranked games with your friends. Riot Games did this to ensure a balanced gameplay and to pick players with a similar skill level.

Five Stack

Let’s start with the exploration of what ranks can play Valorant together if they already have a full stack. In a party of 5, all ranks of Valorant can play, even if one member is Iron and the other is Immortal. However, there are some restrictions depending on how big the difference in ranks is. The first disadvantage is that you can expect longer Valorant rank queue times as the game tries to find players similar to your party. The second limitation is the lower rating growth. You cannot expect the same rank rating (RR) if you are boosted by players with the Immortal or Radiant ranks.

Four Stack

If you want to know what ranks can queue together in Valorant with a four-stack, I have to disappoint you. Four stacks are no longer allowed in ranked matches, and it seems reasonable, since one member of your team would be queuing alone. Riot Games explained this as problems with communication between the solo player and the four people who already know each other. Actually, I could argue with this since, in other games, I have joined a group of 4 people I met on GameTree and had absolutely no complaints about communication. However, Riot sets its own rules here, so we have no other choice than to follow them.

Three Or Two Stack

Iron and Bronze players won’t have any Valorant ranked queue restrictions with players up to Silver rank, meaning Iron 1 players can play with Silver 3 players as long as the Silver player is the highest-ranked player in the lobby. Gold players can play with players up to Platinum. Platinum, Diamond, Ascendant, Immortal, and Radiant players can play with teammates exactly one level higher. Players with an Immortal rank and above can only play alone, in pairs, or with a 5-stack party, and not in a three-person party. Here’s a full table on what ranks can play together in Valorant in duos or trios.

Lowest rank in party Highest rank in party
Iron and BronzeSilver
SilverGold
GoldPlatinum
Platinum, Diamond, Ascendant, Immortal and RadiantOnly 1 tier higher in rank

Can Unranked Players Play With Ranked Players In Valorant?

Yes, according to my gaming experience, any unranked player who has not completed their five calibration games can play with any account with Iron, Bronze, Silver, or Gold ranks.

Why Some Ranks Can’t Play Together In Valorant?

In Valorant, the ranking system has some limitations when it comes to queuing with friends at different ranks. If you have a too big Valorant rank difference, you will not be able to play with friends in ranked games together. This is such injustice, yes, I know.

Why You Can’t Play Ranked Games With Friends In Valorant

If you cannot play with friends in ranked mode, there may be several reasons. The simplest and most common is that you and your friends have too big Valorant rank disparity (to much rank difference to play with friends). Or, one of you has not yet completed the calibration games, while the other has Platinum or higher. There is also another option: one of you might have received a ban from ranked games for insulting other players or AFK. Hope this is not your case.

What do you do if you don’t have such friends or if your team is not on the list of the ranks that can play Valorant together? I recommend that you install the GameTree app and find fellow Valorant players there.

GameTree is a popular matchmaking app for co-op games. Thanks to a unique AI algorithm, our application finds players who match your rank in a matter of seconds. Thus, you may gather a full party of cool folks of similar rank and play together when you have spare time. Meet Valorant fans around the world, go to voice chat, discuss the game, strategy, and your victories, and play with those who really love video games.

Riot Games actively fights not only against cheaters and all kinds of dishonest players but also pays great attention to ensuring that players can get the best gaming experience and compete with equal gamers. Despite some problems, they generally cope well with this task. I hope that in this article, I was able to explain in a little more detail how matchmaking works for different ranks and what ranks can play together in Valorant.

What Is A Valorant Discord LFG Server And Why Use It?

Commonly, Valorant Discord LFG is a server that helps gamers find teammates to participate in matches together. It works as a center that unites players with various skill levels and goals. You can look for a group of people who want to enjoy Valorant regularly, discuss new updates and game strategies with them, and assemble winning teams.

I know a few ways to join the Valorant LFG Discord server. In particular, you can type “Valorant LFG” in Google or any other search engine. However, you may use another way. Go to the official Discord website or application and check out the Servers section. Then, view all available lists of services, pick a Valorant channel, and seek friends or leave a message there.

The Best Valorant LFG Discord Servers To Find Players

Therefore, I have prepared a list of the finest servers where you can find teammates, participate in various tournaments, and achieve more gamer goals.

GameTree has its own Discord server not only for Valorant LFG but also for fans of all the games out there to find teammates and discuss the news. Also, it is a free LFG application where the matchmaking process is even easier. Here, you can join the game with non-toxic players, coordinate game sessions, and communicate with other members via special public rooms. I have highlighted several essential features of GameTree:

  • Unique AI-powered matchmaking for games. Thus, you can count on team selection according to your level.
  • Convenient use, both on mobile and on a desktop device, thanks to a flawless application.
  • The ability to set a filter on players according to their level, language, and activity on the site or in the application.
  • A voice chat for more effective communication with a team.

You need to go through several steps to start using this platform for gamers. I have described detailed instructions below:

  1. Open an official website to download an application to your iOS or Android device, or use the desktop application.
  2. Create an account by indicating your email and unique password.
  3. Confirm that you are over 13 years old.
  4. Input your username, date of Birth, and gender.
  5. Select your favorite game genres and platforms (it can be PC, PlayStation, etc.).
  6. After that, turn on geolocation, click the LFG section, and pick Valorant.

As a newcomer, you may fill out a special questionnaire and pass a few tests to determine your playing level. Moreover, you can receive unique recommendations that help you strengthen your gamer skills.

To start using available communities in Discord, you need to create and verify your profile and carefully read the terms of use. Subsequently, you can follow esports news channels and LFG proposals to meet other players and join a team or assemble yours. Furthermore, you may use voice chat to be in touch with teammates during the game.

Occasionally, I use another official Discord channel, named Valorant LFG server, to find in-game friends from different parts of the world. You can easily link your Valorant account and use direct messages to communicate with other members. Developers separated NA, EU & ASIA servers, enabling you to search for suitable teammates conveniently.

On this server, you can create scrims and team recruitment channels and follow the main game news. Additionally, I like that players can view other gamers’ statistics and keep themselves posted on their achievements. Voice and text chats are available as well.

Regional Valorant Servers

In our opinion, the top-notch regional Valorant LFG Discord server options are Valorant EU, Valorant OCE, and Valorant Middle East. Namely, Valorant EU servers are located in Stockholm, Istanbul, London, and Warsaw. The next ones cover such countries as Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul, and Tokyo. The Valorant Middle East server is located in Bahrain. These channels are created by community members who want to find teammates in a particular time zone. The principle of work is the same as with the previous servers.

If you are looking for a Valorant Discord server to find players, this one will be an excellent choice as well. This ever-growing community includes dedicated gamers who wish to develop and share their strategies and knowledge. Of course, here, you can find both newcomers and battle-handed players.

The server has various channels where you can learn about different game modes, maps, and tips. I like to participate in discussions, ask some questions, and cooperate with other gamers to refine my skills and tactics in this channel. Additionally, you can find various regular tournaments and scrims organized by avid members of this server.

Valorant Pro

This community is not as well-known as the previous Valorant Discord servers for finding players. Nonetheless, here, I communicate with gamers who are interested in growing and participating in tournaments. This server is not great for discussions, hanging out, or something like that. Still, here, I frequently gather my team or join the available one and find various Valorant MMR competitions to participate in.

Valorant Ascent

Valorant Ascent

Ascent is a Valorant team finder in Discord that focuses on the esports side. It means that you may find friends for tournaments, scrims, team recruitment, and more. I deem that this service is the best one for professional gamers who want to participate in various tournaments.

On the other hand, if you have a 5-stack team with selected roles and want to find another group to scrim against, you may use the in-server channel for that. Besides, here, I like to utilize an active tournament channel and follow the most top-rated Valorant events.

Valorant GG – LFG And Events

GG is one of the most popular Valorant LFG servers that unites gamers from various parts of the globe. In my opinion, it will be helpful for Valorant players of any skill who want to find teammates and keep themselves posted on top game events. For instance, here, personally I follow such competitions as VCT 2024: Masters Madrid, VALORANT Champions Tour 2024: China Kickoff, and others.

ProGuides Valorant

You can also join this Valorant duo finder Discord server to find players and enjoy the game. This channel allows you to boost your skills, battle against competitors, or become the founder of a new team. Moreover, as I know, ProGuides Valorant enables members to participate in community events and organize different tournaments.

Valorant LFG Discord Alternatives

In addition to Valorant LFG Discord servers, where you may not always find admirable teammates, I would recommend trying excellent platform alternatives. I describe their primary features below in the review.

GameTree – #1 App To Find Gamer Friends

As I noted, you can download this application to your phone/tablet or use the desktop version on your PC to find the necessary teammates according to your level and gaming skills. Unlike Discord servers, GameTree’ Valorant LFG feature allows you to communicate and play with users who are interested in developing their mastery.

Reddit

If you would rather not use Discord for Valorant competitive games, you may try Reddit. It is a global forum where people discuss various topics, including the r/Valorant subreddit. In addition to the opportunity to discuss various tactics and watch live streams or game fragments, you can meet other players to create a team. For instance, if you are in a duo queue, you can find three more players here.

Still Looking For A Valorant Team? Try GameTree Today!

If you are disappointed with Valorant LFG Discord and its members, look at the GameTree app. It is a unique platform with non-toxic people, a wide range of true fans of Valorant, and exclusive AI-based technology, which allows you to filter players by their skills. Therefore, you may find gamers for duelist, sentinel, initiator, or controller roles to play Valorant.
