Marvel Rivals has become incredibly popular in a short time, and its popularity is only growing, as evidenced by the number of official tournaments held and the number of announced ones. Therefore, all players are interested in how the competitive mode in the game is structured, what the nuances are, and how to become better and climb the ranking ladder. I will tell you more about Marvel Rivals ranks based on my own experience in the competitive mode.

What Is Marvel Rivals Competitive Mode And How It Works?

Like any other competitive game, Marvel Rivals’s competitive mode involves players competing with each other to advance in the ranking ladder and receive exclusive rewards. The main goal is to reach the highest rank in Marvel Rivals and join the top players of the season. I must admit right away that some users on Reddit accuse Marvel Rivals of an unfair ranking system. However, I believe it is completely in line with other competitive games.

In addition to exclusive rewards, the main difference between the competitive mode and the casual mode in Marvel Rivals is a set of demotion rules and penalties (for example, for leaving the match). The ranked mode is also about the competition of more skilled players and experienced teams that are focused exclusively on winning and not on having fun, as in the casual mode. In case of defeat in the ranked mode, players lose the points they earned and fall in the Marvel Rivals ranking.

In Marvel Rivals Ranked, each match consists of several rounds. The team that wins the most rounds gets the victory and rank points. The side that loses loses rank points, which could lead to a rank demotion.

All players start with Bronze rank and, having collected a certain number of rank points, move up the ranking ladder through 9 divisions up to the coveted One Above All.

Key Factors Influencing Your Ranking

There are several key factors that have the greatest impact on the amount of rating points earned or lost:

  • Winning against an opponent with a higher rank than you will give you more rating points than if the opponent has the same or lower rank than you.
  • Losing against an opponent with a lower rank than you will result in a greater loss of points than if the opponent has the same or higher rank than you.
  • The Winning Streak series gives additional ranking points in Marvel Rivals, and a losing streak does the opposite.
  • Also, your performance in the match affects the tanking – damage inflicted, assists, number of rounds won, etc.

All Marvel Rivals Ranks In Order

There are 9 ranks in Marvel Rivals. Note that initially, in Season 0, there were 8 ranks, but in Season 1 they added another rank, Celestial. Each of the ranks, except for the last two, is divided into 3 tiers, where III is the starting tier, and I is  the highest in a given rank.

All ranks in Marvel Rivals in order look like this:

RankTier
BronzeIII, II, I
Silver III, II, I
GoldIII, II, I
PlatinumIII, II, I
DiamondIII, II, I
GrandmasterIII, II, I
CelestialIII, II, I
Eternity
One Above All

As you may have noticed, Eternity and One Above All ranks do not have tiers. However, if a player does not compete at that rank for a while, they will gradually start to lose rank points, leading to the loss of the rank.

How To Unlock Ranked In Marvel Rivals

Before accessing ranked games in Marvel Rivals, a player must reach level 10 by playing quick matches. In my experience, this takes a few hours. After that, the following steps must be taken:

  • Go to the main menu of the game.
  • Click Play in the upper left corner.
  • In the window that opens, you will have a choice of game modes, among which is the unlocked Competitive — it follows immediately after the Quick Match.

Competitive Rewards To Expect

At the end of Season 1, players will have a chance to win a unique Blood Shield Invisible Woman Costume for their Marvel Rivals ranking, as well as other ranked rewards that I list in the table below:

Season 1 End RankRewards

Is Marvel Rivals Ranked Crossplay?

Yes, Marvel Rivals is crossplay between all platforms, but there are limitations for competitive mode. In Marvel Rivals Ranked, crossplay between PC and consoles is not provided. However, crossplay between players on PlayStation and Xbox is available.

Tips To Rank Up In Marvel Rivals Ranked Mode

  • You should know all the heroes and master several characters of each role to be as flexible as possible and make a counter-pick to the opponent’s team pick. I also recommend knowing the current meta of heroes and not ignoring it.
  • A prerequisite is a well-coordinated team. You will need friends with whom you will constantly play, decide on the team comp, and coordinate your actions. I advise you to assemble a team on GameTree and play with the same people every time instead of being matched with strangers.
  • Pay attention to the analysis of your matches, watch replays of your games, as well as games of professional players, and adjust your strategy to improve your Marvel Rivals ranking.
  • Use the main feature of Marvel Rivals – Team-Ups. Playing in a team with certain superheroes, you get a boost to your abilities. This can significantly increase your chances of winning, confirming the importance of picking the right heroes for your team.
  • Get more game practice – the more you play with your team, analyzing and adjusting your game, the better and more effective you will be.
  • Always stay calm and cool, as nerves will not help you or your teammates. You will only get more tired and play worse. If you feel that you are on a losing streak, take a break and play something else.

Marvel Rivals is an online hero arena shooter that is quickly gaining popularity as it allows you to play as your favorite Marvel hero. A unique feature of the game is Team-Ups, which enhance superheroes’ abilities when they are on one team. The popularity of the game is also influenced by the availability of Marvel Rivals on different platforms and the ability for players to use different devices to play together. How exactly does Marvel Rivals crossplay work? Read on, and I will tell you everything in detail.

💡 Highlights:

  • Marvel Rivals has crossplay between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in casual mode.
  • Crossplay in ranked mode is only available between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S due to competitive balance concerns.
  • Marvel Rivals currently lacks cross-progression, but developers are working on implementing it.
  • Crossplay is always enabled by default for PC players and cannot be turned off.
  •  PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players can enable or disable crossplay via the Social section in the game settings.

Is Marvel Rivals Crossplay?

Yes, there is crossplay in Marvel Rivals between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, but there are also a few nuances with game modes. You can easily play with each other on any platform in the casual mode. As for ranked play, there are a number of restrictions.

Ranked Game Crossplay

For competitive purposes, crossplay between PCs and consoles is not provided in Marvel Rivals Ranked. Crossplay in ranked mode is only possible between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. This decision is understandable and expected since, due to differences in input methods and hardware configurations, it is difficult to create the same competitive conditions for PC and console players.

Is There Cross-progression In Marvel Rivals?

Though Marvel Rivals is a cross-platform game, there is no cross-progression at the moment. However, the developers have already announced that they are working on implementing this function.

Possibility Of Future Changes

Almost all modern cross-platform games support this cross-progression and allow players to play on different platforms and save their progress when moving from one to another. The developers know about this and say that Marvel Rivals will have cross-progression soon. Marvel Rivals creative director Guangyun “Guangguang” Chen confirmed in an interview for DotEsports that they are working on cross-progression implementation:

Note:

“Cross-progression involves a lot of platform-specific rules, we’re still looking at it and how to solve it,” Chen said. “Once the team is ready, once we’ve figured it out, we’ll be sharing to everyone and players will be the first to know.”

Well, like many other players who have several gaming devices at home, I’m really looking forward to Marvel Rivals cross-save to be implemented!

How To Enable & Disable Crossplay In Marvel Rivals

The ability to enable or disable Marvel Rivals crossplay will depend on which platform you are playing on.

For PC players, there is no option to turn crossplay on or off – it is always enabled by default.

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players need to do the following:

  • Launch Marvel Rivals
  • Open settings and navigate to the Social section
  • There you will see the Cross-Platform item
  • If you want to turn off crossplay, then uncheck the box
  • If you want to turn crossplay back on, then check this checkbox.

Will Marvel Rivals Be Available On Mobile?

No, at the moment, the developers have no plans to port the game to mobile devices. Although the game would look great on smartphones, one reason the developers do not plan such changes is the Unreal Engine 5 engine used for the game. They believe the Marvel Rivals game can only work on high-end mobile devices, not mobile gadgets.

Technical Requirements For Crossplay

Since crossplay is enabled by default in Marvel Rivals, the game does not impose any special requirements for playing together. Here are the basic technical requirements:

PlatformsPC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
InternetStable internet connection with speed 50 Mbps or higher
MatchmakingConsoles and PC are matched separately

💡 Highlights

  • Marvel Rivals is a 6v6 competitive hero shooter with hero roles: Duelists (damage), Vanguards (tanks), and Strategists (support/healing).
  • Effective team comps in Marvel Rivals require balancing roles, abilities, and Team-Up synergies.
  • This article provides examples of the five most powerful team comps for Season 0: Meta Team, Rush Team, Dive Team, Area Control Team, and 1 – 3 – 2 team comp.

Marvel Rivals has successfully launched and has begun to conquer the audience of fans of competitive hero shooters. Now, the release of the first season is just around the corner, which means that the first global balance changes, fixes, and other new content are coming. It’s time to figure out and try out the Marvel Rivals team comps that are most effective now and fun to play.

Marvel Rivals Team Comps Basics

In Marvel Rivals, matches are held in a 6 vs. 6 format, and heroes are divided into role types like in other hero shooters. There are three types of heroes in Marvel Rivals:

  • Duelists – main attacking heroes with high DPS;
  • Vanguards – tank heroes who hold the defense in the first line;
  • Strategists – heroes who provide healing and support.

Forming effective team comps in Marvel Rivals involves more than just the standard approach of selecting damage and support heroes whose abilities complement each other. A unique feature of the game is the synergy between heroes, which is reflected in a mechanic called Team-Up Abilities. This mechanic allows certain heroes on the same team to unlock additional unique abilities. For example, one pair of heroes might be able to share their ultimate abilities, while another pair could gain a new active ability. A case in point is Venom, who can share his symbiotic powers with Spider-Man and Peni Parker.

Therefore, when forming team compositions in Marvel Rivals, in addition to the heroes’ roles and abilities, it is also necessary to consider Team-Up Abilities. The buffs that heroes receive when on the same team are not only significant but can also form the basis of the composition.

Best Marvel Rivals Team Comps

The effectiveness of team comps is currently a hot topic on Reddit. As I’ve written above, the team size in Marvel Rivals is 6 players per team. Let’s explore some of the most popular and powerful compositions that will be relevant for Season 0: Dooms’ Rise.

Meta Team

Marvel Rivals Meta team Comp
  • Vanguards: Venom, Magneto
  • Duelists: Scarlet Witch, Punisher
  • Strategists: Luna Snow, Mantis

The Meta Team is based on the strongest heroes of the current season. In such a composition, we have two very strong Vanguards, capable of reliably diving into the enemy’s rear alone – Venom, who is extremely tenacious, and Magneto, thanks to the Team-Up boost in a pair with Scarlet Witch. Punisher has become almost a must-have hero for most Marvel Rivals team comps due to his incredible damage both at a distance and at close range. Luna Snow and Mantis will be responsible for control, support, and additional survivability.

Rush Team

Marvel Rivals Rush Team Comp
  • Vanguards: Thor, Captain America
  • Duelists: Storm, Punisher, Winter Soldier
  • Strategist: Rocket Racoon

This Marvel Rivals team composition has good survivability, and its main idea is to quickly engage in combat and quickly retreat, acting together and covering each other. Raccoon will be responsible for covering since he has an AoE heal over the area. He also greatly strengthens Punisher and Winter Soldier – they will be good both in cover and in attack. Captain America and Thor are great for imposing a fight, and Storm will strengthen the team by speeding it up. Actions in such a team in Marvel Rivals will require a lot of coordination from the players since you must focus on the targets together and know when it is better to attack and when to retreat and regroup.

Dive Team

Dive Team For Marvel Rivals
  • Vanguards: Hulk, Venom
  • Duelists: Spider-Man, Star-Lord
  • Strategists: Luna Snow, Mantis

Dive compositions are very popular in heroic shooters. Such a team comp in Marvel Rivals is a group of heroes that quickly enters the battle, attacks the selected target, causing huge damage, and quickly regroups and pursues another target. It is important for the heroes of the Duelist and Vanguard roles to be very mobile so that they can quickly reduce the distance from the enemy and easily retreat to a safe place. Venom, Spider-Man, and Star-Lord have high mobility and can instantly attack the enemy from different sides. Hulk’s shields improve the heroes’ personal survivability, and Mantis increases damage during the dive.

Area Control Team

Area Control Team Comp For Marvel Rivals
  • Vanguards: Groot, Peni Parker
  • Duelists: Namor, Iron Man
  • Strategists: Loki, Luna Snow

In the Domination game mode, the best team composition will be the heroes who are best able to hold and control a key area, as well as provide a defense of this zone on the map. Groot and Peni Parker are able to weaken and slow down the enemy’s onslaught thanks to Peni Parker’s traps and mines in combination with Groot’s walls, which will form the first line of defense. Namor’s turrets and Loki clones installed around the key point will prevent the enemy from breaking through the defense and will become a deadly trap for those approaching the point. Additionally, the Luna Snow and Namor duo will strengthen the defense thanks to their Chilling Charisma Team-Up ability, and Iron Man will provide good area damage at the choke points of the map.

1 – 3 – 2

1-3-2 Marvel Rivals Team Comp
  • Vanguard: Venom
  • Duelists: Spider-Man, Namor, Punisher
  • Strategists: Adam Warlock, Luna Snow

This aggressive attack-focused team composition in Marvel Rivals is based on one Vanguard and three Duelists. The main instigator is Venom, who will initiate and force the fight, opening a window of opportunity for Spider-Man. Support and development of the spiders’ success will be provided by Punisher, who will be able to provide serious damage at a long distance in the second line. Namor, Luna Snow, and Adam Warlock will provide protection and support for the team. Namor’s turrets will help prevent counter-aggression from the enemy. Luna Snow will strengthen Namor, and together with Adam Warlock, she will provide support and healing for the spiders and Punisher.

Counter-Picking Guide

Effective counter-picking begins with identifying the enemy composition’s core strategy. Against Rush comps, prioritize heroes with strong disengage abilities like Magneto or Doctor Strange to disrupt their momentum. When facing Dive teams, protective supports such as Mantis or Adam Warlock can safeguard vulnerable teammates.

For Area Control compositions, mobile flankers like Spider-Man or Groot excel at bypassing choke points. Against Sustain/Poke comps, engage with high-mobility initiators like Star-Lord or Black Widow to close distance quickly.

Key counter matchups include:

  • Hulk counters Captain America’s shield
  • Luna Snow neutralizes Storm’s weather control
  • Rocket Raccoon’s turrets disrupt Hawkeye’s sightlines
  • Magik’s portals counter Punisher’s positioning
  • Black Panther’s mobility counters Iron Man’s targeting
  • Namor disrupts Groot’s root abilities with water attacks
  • Doctor Strange’s mirror dimension neutralizes Star-Lord’s mobility
  • Magneto renders Winter Soldier’s metal arm ineffective
  • Loki’s illusions confuse Hawkeye’s aim assist
  • Spider-Man’s webs immobilize Thor’s lightning-based movement

Always maintain 1-2 flex picks on your roster who can adapt to unexpected enemy selections. The strongest counter-picking teams combine individual hero counters with composition-level strategic advantages.

Marvel Rivals is really turning heads among fans of hero shooters, and the way it focuses on hero synergy shakes up the usual gameplay formula. It adds some cool strategic depth when you’re putting your Marvel Rivals team together. It’ll be fun to see how the game develops since the developers mentioned that Team-Ups won’t always stay the same. They’ll be rolling out new ones and tweaking the current ones based on the season’s theme, new heroes, and balance changes. In this article, I’m sharing five of the most popular and powerful team comps in Marvel Rivals. You can pick any of these to get a feel for the game or mix and match to create your own hero combo!

The new game from NetEase Games, Marvel Rivals, is really impressing players. Some people are saying it feels a bit like Overwatch 2, but it definitely has its own unique vibe that fits right in with the Marvel universe. There are 33 characters to choose from, and some of them can make up alliances called Team-Ups. So, this is what my article is about –  all Marvel Rivals Team-Ups and possible effects that such duos can bring.

What Are Marvel Rivals Team-Ups And How They Work?

Marvel Rivals has a unique mechanic that sets it apart from Overwatch, such as Team-Ups. Since there are many heroes in the Marvel universe that belong to different tiers and most of the heroes have connections with each other, the developers have implemented this distinctive feature in the game. Marvel Rivals duos give something extra to the players if certain heroes are on the same team. Thus, they receive not only unique bonuses for damage or health but can also share with each other or receive new additional abilities. This adds variety to the heroes’ potential on the battlefield.

All Marvel Rivals Team-Ups And Their Abilities

There are currently 15 Team-Ups on the list, but from the Marvel Rivals subreddit, we already know that the number will change depending on the theme of the season and future game updates. In the table below, you will find all Team-Ups in Marvel Rivals, which heroes make up the alliance, and what effects can be obtained.

Best Marvel Rivals Team-Ups To Try

There are already a decent number of  Marvel Rivals Team-Ups and the Reddit community shares their opinions on which of the alliances are the most effective. I also decided to choose some of the best Team-Ups in Marvel Rivals that my friends and I found the most interesting, fun, and beneficial, of course.

Ammo Overload

This is a composition in which the heroes are very strong on their own, but they become even stronger thanks to Rocket. Rocket’s activation of the Ammo Overload Device will allow Winter Soldier and The Punisher to shoot continuously since they no longer need to reload for the duration of this device. This greatly boosts both the offensive and defensive potential of such a combination, provided that Rocket uses the device at the right moment.

Allied Agents

Two strong duelists, Black Widow and Hawkeye, who are very similar on the battlefield, become even stronger together and form an alliance – Allied Agents. The essence of this Marvel Rivals alliance is that Hawkeye shares his ultimate ability with Black Widow. She will be able to see afterimages of moving targets, and shooting at the afterimage will cause damage. Thus, she will be able to kill the enemy by shooting at a stationary target.

Lunar Force

Cloak & Dagger gives Moon Knight a new active ability in this duo. Moon Knight can create an area that will make him invisible for a while, increasing his survivability when flanking. However, it is worth keeping in mind that his invisibility zone will be limited to a certain area, and the enemy team will be able to deal damage to the cloud to reach Moon Knight.

Guardian Revival

This Marvel Rivals Team-Up has good offensive potential, as Adam Warlock shares his regenerative ability with Mantis and Star-Lord. Adam Warlock’s Regenerative Cocoon will allow Mantis and Star-Lord to move around as spirits for a while to find a safe place and instantly revive. The team should plan their actions well with this duo, as this ability gained with Team-Up in Marvel Rivals has a fairly long cooldown period.

Symbiote Bond

As the name suggests, this team in Marvel Rivals sees Venom sharing his symbiote powers with Spider-Man and Peni Parker, allowing them to transform into giant balls of needles that deal AoE damage and knock back any enemies that get in the ball’s range. This team composition is great for pushing and breaking through enemy defenses.

Rising Stars (New Meta Team-Ups)

While the established team-ups like Symbiote Bond and Guardian Revival dominate competitive play, several emerging combinations are quickly gaining popularity for their unexpected power and tactical versatility. These rising stars represent the evolving meta and offer fresh strategic options for players looking to surprise opponents.

Mystical Mayhem (Doctor Strange + Scarlet Witch)

This arcane partnership has surged in popularity following the recent balance patch. When activated, Mystical Mayhem creates a dimension-warping field that distorts enemy projectiles while amplifying magical damage by 35%. The combination excels in area denial and team fights, particularly on enclosed control points where the spatial disruption becomes nearly unavoidable.

Vibranium Velocity (Black Panther + Shuri)

This sibling synergy has become a favorite among aggressive players who prioritize mobility. The team-up grants both characters a 40% movement speed boost and leaves damaging kinetic energy trails behind them. High-level players have discovered that alternating Vibranium Velocity with Black Panther’s ultimate creates virtually unbreakable pursuit chains against support characters.

Gamma Protocol (Hulk + She-Hulk)

Initially overlooked due to its complex activation requirements, Gamma Protocol has emerged as one of the most devastating front-line combinations. When triggered, both characters enter an enhanced rage state with escalating damage resistance that peaks at 70% damage reduction. The team-up truly shines in extended engagements, creating a near-impenetrable tank duo that enables damage dealers to operate freely.

  • A unique feature of Marvel Rivals is team-up abilities – some heroes can team up with others and get a boost to their abilities.

Marvel fans are in for a fun time because an awesome new heroic shooter featuring favorite superheroes dropped on December 6. I had the chance to jump into the closed beta, try out this new game from NetEase, and prepare a preliminary Marvel Rivals tier list and description of the best heroes! However, with the release of the game the number of characters increased to 33, changing the meta significantly. So, if you want to learn more about all the characters and which ones to choose at the start of the game, read this article further.

Current Meta Overview

The current meta favors heroes with strong mobility and burst damage potential, while also emphasizing the importance of crowd control abilities. Team compositions typically revolve around creating synergies between different hero archetypes to maintain map control and secure objectives.

How We Compiled Our Marvel Rivals Tier List

This Marvel Rivals tier list is based on my thoughts about the heroes after playing through the closed beta for two weeks and now trying the game upon the official release. It gives a rough idea of how some heroes stack up against each other, showing which ones might become popular right away and which ones seem a bit weak for now. Comparing the beta and the game after the official release, I can definitely say that the character balance has changed, and this tier list reflects the latest changes.

S Tier

This tier contains the best heroes in Marvel Rivals, who are the strongest and most effective in any situation.

Hela

Hela

Currently, she is the strongest Duelist hero in my Marvel Rivals tier list, dealing very high damage at a long range. Still, it will take some time to get used to her pace. Her attacks seemed to me to be a little slow, especially after Star-Lord, but this is compensated by the amount of damage she deals. Her ability to teleport makes her maneuverable and able to catch the enemy off guard. Her ultimate with good area damage can cause a lot of inconvenience to the enemy team.

Luna Snow

One of the Marvel Rivals best characters with support abilities at the moment. She can heal allies and control enemies by freezing them for a few seconds. In addition, she is pretty flexible, and her ultimate gives your team a damage boost or healing, depending on what you need more.

Luna Snow

Hawkeye

Hawkeye

A top-tier Ranged DPS character in Marvel Rivals, Hawkeye excels at dealing precise, high-impact damage from a safe distance. His abilities include long-range attacks that target multiple enemies, making him perfect for crowd control and picking off vulnerable opponents. With his versatility, he can adapt to various situations, using trick arrows to apply effects like slowing or stunning enemies. His ultimate unleashes a flurry of explosive arrows, dealing massive AoE damage and turning the tide of battle. A must-have for teams looking to maximize firepower and strategic precision.

Moon Knight

A versatile Melee DPS character in Marvel Rivals, Moon Knight stands out with his ability to adapt to different combat situations. His unique kit revolves around dealing consistent damage while maintaining his survivability with self-healing abilities. Moon Knight can switch between aggressive burst damage and sustained combat modes, giving him an edge in prolonged fights. His ultimate unleashes a devastating chain of attacks, overwhelming enemies and providing a damage boost for a short duration. Ideal for players who value adaptability and raw melee power in their lineup.

Moon Knight

Cloak & Dagger

Cloak & Dagger

A dynamic Duo Hybrid in Marvel Rivals, Cloak & Dagger shine as versatile characters with a mix of offensive and support capabilities. Cloak specializes in crowd control, enveloping enemies in darkness to reduce their effectiveness, while Dagger brings healing and light-based attacks that damage foes and restore ally health. Together, their synergy amplifies their utility, making them a formidable pairing. Their ultimate unleashes a devastating combo attack that deals massive area damage and provides a powerful team-wide buff, enhancing both damage output and survivability. Perfect for players who value flexibility and coordination in their team composition.

A Tier

This tier contains second-best characters in Marvel Rivals with minor drawbacks. They are usually more challenging to master, requiring more time and effort from the player.

Loki

The god of mischief in Marvel Rivals acts as a good support hero from the A tier list who can both reliably heal teammates and deal damage to opponents. To master this hero, you will need some time to learn how to use his projections correctly. Loki has a useful ultimate ability that will allow you to temporarily transform into any hero of your allies or opponents, copying their abilities.

Loki

Venom

Venom

This is a powerful hero and a desirable pick in the tank role, who also has good mobility, excellent damage-dealing, and Symbiote skills. Venom is great in the front-line role, diving into fights and slowing down opponents with his tentacles. This opens up a window of opportunity for your team to deal devastating damage to the enemy team. Due to his high mobility and healing boosts, Venom has one of the best survivability of all Vanguard heroes in the Marvel Rivals tier list.

Invisible Woman

What really elevates Sue Storm to A-level is her versatility on both offense and defense. Her force field bubbles can be used aggressively to trap and isolate enemies, and her projectile fire ability deals constant damage over long distances. Her ultimatum ability, which creates a massive protective dome, can completely turn the tide of team battles, negating enemy ultimatums and creating a protected space for her team to regroup or advance toward objectives.

Invisible Woman

Scarlet Witch

She is a great Duelist hero and a meta champion who can deal a lot of damage at close range. Her incredibly powerful ultimate can easily wipe out an entire enemy team if used correctly and timed well. Scarlet Witch has weak defenses, but this is compensated by her high mobility and combat abilities.

Scarlet Witch

Groot

Groot

This is a classic tank hero from the A-ranked tier in Marvel Rivals. He is quite slow compared to others but with good defense and a focus on zone control. Groot is able to put up several protective barriers, reliably covering the team of allies, absorbing damage, and inflicting good damage on the enemy.

Rocket Raccoon

A classic support hero who essentially has two tasks in the team – to heal allies and boost damage. Rocket Raccoon also deals good damage thanks to his impressively sized gun. He is most effective when paired with Groot, sitting on his shoulder and focusing on the damage.

Rocket Raccoon

Adam Warlock

Adam Warlock

A support hero with excellent revival abilities. He has a situational but very strong ultimate that allows him to instantly revive a fallen ally and give invulnerability for a short time.

Mantis

In addition to healing and buffing the team, she has the ability to control the crowd. Mantis will provide reliable healing and a damage boost to herself and her team, and thanks to Spore Slumber, she can stun enemies for a short time.

Mantis

Magneto

Magneto

Magneto is a strong offensive tank that can be a pain in the ass in the right hands. His ultimate can deal a lot of damage to multiple enemies if used and timed correctly.

Iron Fist

A powerful Melee DPS and Self-Sustain hero in Marvel Rivals, Iron Fist combines martial arts mastery with the mystical power of the dragon. His abilities focus on delivering high-impact, chi-powered strikes that deal heavy damage to enemies while restoring his health, making him a resilient fighter. Iron Fist excels in close combat, where his agility and precision allow him to dominate opponents. His ultimate channels the full power of the Iron Fist, unleashing a devastating burst of energy that deals massive AoE damage and stuns enemies in its path. A great pick for players who enjoy fluid, high-damage melee combat with self-sustaining capabilities.

Iron Fist

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange is one of the best characters in Marvel Rivals and most versatile Vanguard heroe, who deservedly gets into the meta. He has excellent defensive and offensive abilities, allowing him to reliably cover the team and provide good control of the enemy, thanks to his ultimate, which temporarily disables their mobility. But his primary ability is, of course, teleportation, thanks to which you can open portals anywhere. They can be used not only by you but also by your teammates.

Star-Lord

He is a great Duelist from the Marvel Rivals meta if you can handle his speed and keep up the pace. Star-Lord can get in and out of fights with lightning speed thanks to his famous Element Guns and rocket boots. His ultimate makes him almost elusive for some time while still focusing on the enemy and dealing damage. Star-Lord is perfect for forcing fights and finding weak spots in the enemy’s defense.

Star Lord

Squirrel Girl

Squirrel Girl

A quirky yet highly effective Hybrid DPS and Crowd Control character in Marvel Rivals, Squirrel Girl is a surprising powerhouse. Her abilities focus on overwhelming enemies with an army of squirrels, dealing consistent AoE damage and disrupting enemy formations. She can summon her furry allies to distract and debilitate foes, making her excellent at controlling the battlefield. Her ultimate unleashes a massive squirrel swarm, dealing significant damage and applying debuffs to enemies, leaving them vulnerable to follow-up attacks. Perfect for players who enjoy unconventional strategies and chaotic combat effectiveness.

B Tier

This tier contains good heroes with several drawbacks that prevent them from taking a higher place. This can be either limited game situations in which these heroes will show themselves well or weaker abilities compared to heroes of higher tier lists in Marvel Rivals.

Black Widow

Black Widow

A masterful Stealth DPS and Debuff Specialist in Marvel Rivals, Black Widow excels at taking down priority targets while disrupting enemy strategies. Her abilities focus on agility, stealth, and precision, allowing her to infiltrate enemy lines and deal devastating single-target damage. She can apply debilitating effects like poison or stuns, weakening foes and creating openings for her team. Her ultimate unleashes a tactical strike with high-tech gadgets, delivering massive burst damage and impairing enemies with area-wide debuffs. Perfect for players who value cunning and precision in combat.

Peni Parker

Peni Parker is a pretty situational hero, as all of this character’s powers revolve around setting traps and creating Cyber-Webs that periodically spawn Spider-Drones. Although she has a helpful mech suit with a decent range, she is a very specific hero requiring a special approach.

Peni Parker

Iron Man

Iron Man

Iron Man is my favorite superhero in the Marvel Universe, and I was disappointed to see that he actually belongs to B-Tier here. He almost always flies around the map and deals damage from the air. This type of movement takes some getting used to, and he can be pretty vulnerable in some situations. His ultimate can do good damage to enemies in the area but still not enough, as well as the damage with his basic abilities.

Thor

This Vanguard acts like a Duelist on the battlefield but is average in both roles. Thor has a low HP for a Vanguard hero and is unable to absorb damage. His playstyle is quickly rushing into the thick of battle, dealing good damage in melee combos with the team’s support, and leaving the battlefield quickly. In addition, his three Mjolnir abilities go into a short cooldown after using one of them. Overall, I don’t think this hero is easy to master and that’s why he belongs to the B-tier list in Marvel Rivals.

Thor

Hulk

Hulk

This solid Vanguard hero has a large health pool and good melee abilities. He does a good job of rushing in, forcing a fight, breaking through defenses, and allowing Duelists to deal the bulk of the damage. The hero’s downsides include the fact that he has several forms, is quite difficult to master, and has nothing to counter ranged heroes with.

Jeff the Land Shark

Jeff is an easy-to-master Strategist with solid healing skills. His Hide and Seek ability helps him dodge danger, but he’s still vulnerable to melee heroes. His ultimate can swallow enemies and spit them off the map for easy kills, but it also affects allies in the area. It’s pretty cool when used with a coordinated team!

Jeff the Land Shark

Wolverine

Wolverine

A relentless Melee DPS and Self-Sustain character in Marvel Rivals, Wolverine thrives in close-quarters combat with his high damage output and remarkable survivability. His abilities focus on brutal slashing attacks that deal massive damage to enemies, while his healing factor allows him to regenerate health over time, making him hard to take down. Wolverine’s ultimate unleashes a ferocious berserker rampage, delivering devastating blows to multiple enemies and temporarily increasing his attack speed and damage. A must-pick for players who enjoy aggressive playstyles and sustained melee dominance.

Storm

She is a very mobile Duelist who can deal good area damage and help her allies with movement or damage boosts. Her ultimate turns her into a hurricane and pulls enemies in a certain area to her, dealing good damage. She also boosts her abilities well when teamed up with Thor.

Storm

Captain America

Captain America

A versatile and reliable character in the Marvel Rivals roster, Captain America excels as a frontline tank and support. His shield provides excellent defensive capabilities, allowing him to absorb significant damage and protect allies. Additionally, his abilities include stunning enemies, creating openings for your team, and boosting your team’s defense. His ultimate enhances survivability, granting shields or increasing the team’s resilience depending on the situation. A well-rounded choice for any team composition.

C Tier

This Marvel Rivals tier traditionally lists fairly average heroes that need some enhancements. These heroes typically have even more limited scenarios in which they can be effective and have even weaker abilities.

Spider-Man

Spider-Man

This is a potentially very strong Duelist and a fun hero. He is ideal for hit-and-run tactics and can become a thorn in the enemy’s side thanks to his incredible speed, web, and fast strikes. However, this is a complicated hero to master, and his speed can be a problem for the player. So, the friendly Spider-Man may end in Tier S for most players in terms of effectiveness.

Winter Soldier

A deadly Ranged DPS and Versatile Fighter in Marvel Rivals, Winter Soldier excels at dealing precise, high-impact damage while maintaining tactical flexibility. Armed with his cybernetic arm and advanced weaponry, he delivers a mix of ranged attacks and melee strikes to adapt to any situation. His abilities include burst damage and debuffs that weaken enemies, making him a key asset in controlling the battlefield. His ultimate unleashes a barrage of explosive rounds, dealing massive AoE damage and leaving enemies staggered. Ideal for players who value precision and adaptability in combat.

Winter Soldier

Mr. Fantastic

Mr. Fantastic’s main strength lies in his flexibility (both literally and tactically) – he can reach points that are inaccessible to other heroes and provide decent support to his teammates. However, his damage is significantly lower than that of higher-level characters, and his survivability is average at best. His stretching attacks can disrupt enemy positions and create space, but lack the power to consistently provide elimination. Additionally, his ultimate ability, while creative, does not have the same disruptive potential as A- or S-level heroes.

Mr. Fantastic

Psylocke

Psylocke

A lethal Melee DPS and Crowd Control specialist in Marvel Rivals, Psylocke blends swift, high-damage attacks with psychic abilities to dominate the battlefield. Her abilities focus on chaining combos, teleporting to enemies, and inflicting psychic debuffs that reduce their effectiveness. Psylocke’s agility allows her to evade attacks while delivering devastating strikes. Her ultimate is a dazzling display of psychic energy, dealing massive AoE damage and stunning enemies caught in its path. A perfect pick for players who enjoy fast-paced, high-skill gameplay with a balance of damage and utility.

Magik

This is a good Duelist with an aggressive gameplay style. She rushes into battle, deals melee damage with her long sword, gains health, and then quickly runs away with her short-range teleportation ability. Despite being a mobile hero with a good escape ability, Magik is very vulnerable to ranged heroes.

Magik

D Tier

This tier contains weak heroes that require improvement since, in their current form, they are not able to compete with other heroes. You’d better avoid heroes from this tier for now.

Black Panther

Can’t believe I’m writing this, but Black Panther is currently the weakest hero in the Marvel Rivals tier list. Despite high mobility and good damage, he is still losing to all other Duelist heroes, and the Vibranium Marks abilities cannot significantly contribute to the team. In addition, he, like almost all melee-focused characters, is an easy target for ranged heroes.

Black Panther

Namor

Namor

This duelist hero is fairly easy to learn but lacks damage compared to other heroes in this role. His trident is quite weak, and only in a team with Luna Snow, thanks to the team-up ability, does he become a serious opponent. In this scenario, his trident shots use ice energy, further boosting the attack with an ultimate ability that summons several sea creatures. Namor is a very situational hero who is not effective without support.

This tier list is updated regularly to reflect the latest game patches and meta shifts. Last updated: January 2025.
